The Georgia swimming and diving teams will return to action this weekend as they host the UGA Fall Invitational at Gabrielsen Natatorium. The meet will run Friday through Sunday.

Prelims will take place each day at 9:30 a.m., followed by diving at 11 a.m., and finals slated for 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday. There is no cost for admission.

Joining Georgia in the meet will be swimmers and divers from Auburn, California, Harvard, Michigan, Virginia, and UCLA.

In the most recent CSCAA women’s team rankings, Michigan is No. 4, Georgia is No. 5, California is No. 6, Auburn is No. 13, Virginia is No. 16, and UCLA is No. 25. On the men’s side, California is No. 2, Michigan is No. 4, Auburn is No. 10, Georgia is No. 12, and Virginia is No. 23.

The Lady Bulldogs are 6-0 this season, while the Bulldogs are 5-1. This will be Georgia’s first competition since sweeping Georgia Tech on Nov. 8.

“Our primary goal is to see how fast we can swim,” said Jack Bauerle, Georgia’s Tom Cousins Swimming and Diving Head Coach. “I expect us to swim faster than we have all year and to be really good. We’ve been training hard and we’re preparing to go fast. We’re focusing on Georgia this weekend. We need to do all the little things to make us better. It’s going to be a high quality meet and our kids know they will have to compete. I also expect to learn a little about how our kids respond to the pressure of a championship format, which is much different than a dual meet.”
