UGA Hosting First and Second Rounds of NCAA Tennis Championships This Weekend

The UGA men’s and women’s tennis teams will be hosting the first and second rounds of the 2017 NCAA Championships this weekend at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

 
Georgia’s men will face Florida A&M on this afternoon at 2:00 p.m., following the contest between South Florida and Duke, which is set to take place at 11:00 a.m. The winner of those two matches will face off on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. for a chance to advance to the NCAA Round of 16.

On the women’s side, the Bulldogs will play at 12 Noon on Saturday against South Carolina State — a match which will follow the opening contest between Oregon and North Carolina State at 9:00 a.m. Second round action is slated to start at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday for the ladies, with the winner moving on to the next round.

NCAA Tennis First and Second Rounds Schedule of Play

 
Friday, May 12

11:00 a.m. – First round men (#22 South Florida vs. #35 Duke)

2:00 p.m. – First round men (Florida A&M vs. #12 Georgia)
 
 
Saturday, May 13

9:00 a.m. – First round women (#35 Oregon vs. #30 North Carolina State)

12:00 p.m. – First round women (South Carolina State vs. #5 Georgia)

3:00 p.m. – Winners of men’s first round matches
 
 
Sunday, May 14

2:00 p.m. – Winners of women’s first round matches

Both Georgia teams are vying for a chance to play in front of their home crowd once again next week, when the University of Georgia and the City of Athens welcome the college tennis world to the mecca of collegiate tennis. Next week’s Round of 16 is scheduled to start with eight men’s matches on Thursday, May 18, followed by women’s matches on Friday, May 19. Both men’s and women’s team finals are set to take place on Tuesday, May 23 with the men scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. and the women slated for a 5:00 p.m. start.
