The Georgia women’s tennis team will host No. 28 Ole Miss today at 5:00 p.m. ET and No. 25 Mississippi State on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

The Bulldogs (11-3, 5-1) jumped three spots in ITA’s Team Rankings after last weekend’s road wins over top-ranked Florida and then-No. 21 South Carolina. The Bulldogs victory snapped the Gators’ 163 home match winning streak, which was the nation’s longest active home win streak of any NCAA Division I team in any sport. Junior Ellen Perez received Southeastern Conference women’s tennis Player of the Week with her performance in both matches.
Georgia holds a combined 77-8 record against the SEC Mississippi affiliates. The last time Ole Miss got the upper hand was in 2010 in Oxford; however, the Rebels have not won in Athens since 1993. Georgia has never lost to the visiting Bulldogs of Starkville in the 39 all-time meetings.
The Rebels (11-5, 2-3) have lost three of the last four matches and are winless against teams ranked in the top-25. Junior Arianne Hartono, ranked 72nd, leads Ole Miss on the No. 1 singles court but has struggled in SEC play, going 1-3. Freshman Anna Vrbenska is showing consistency with a 4-1 SEC record on the No. 4 court, which projects a matchup versus Georgia senior Caroline Brinson. The Rebels are implementing two new doubles teams on the first two courts but their last tandem of Tea Jandric and Zalina Khairudinova have solidified themselves with a 9-1 dual record, 3-1 in SEC.
Mississippi State (10-4, 3-3) battles No. 23 Tennessee Friday evening before heading to Athens for the early Sunday afternoon match. The visiting Bulldogs carry a two-match winning streak into the weekend including an upset victory over then-No. 15 Arkansas that boosted them 16 spots in the team rankings. Senior Jasmine Lee, No. 32, showcases a 12-2 duals record at No. 1, while freshman Lisa Marie Rioux follows on the second court where she is a perfect 5-0. In doubles, Lee and Rioux form the nation’s 11th-ranked twosome and are 10-3 in duals.
