The No. 9 Georgia women’s tennis team defeated No. 23 Tennessee in the first outdoor and SEC match of the season, 4-0. The Bulldogs improve to 6-2 on the season and 1-0 in conference competition.

In doubles, the duo of No. 52 Morgan Coppoc and Meg Kowalski made quick work of Adriana Riley and Carly Briggs, defeating them 6-2. Right after, the freshman, senior duo of Lea Ma and Elena Christofi defeated Johanna Silva and Rebeka Mertena, 6-4 to give Georgia the doubles point. No. 31 Katarina Jokic and Anna Hertel went unfinished on court one up 5-4 on No. 8 Tenika McGiffin and Kaitlin Staines.

In singles, No. 86 Gonzalez took care of business on court three, defeating No. 73 Staines 6-3, 6-2. No. 52 Kowalski was right behind her, defeating McGiffin 6-2, 6-0 on court six. No. 27 Jokic clinched the match for the Bulldogs with a 6-2, 6-3 win on court one. 

The Bulldogs will be back in action with two road matches in Mississippi facing off against Ole Miss on March 6 and Mississippi State on March 8. The team will return to the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on March 13 to take on Florida.
