Georgia track and field junior Keturah Orji (pronounced OR-gee, which sounds like the letter ‘G’) has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.

 
This marks Orji’s second consecutive honor of this kind after also garnering honors in 2016. Orji, who was the 2016 Southeastern Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year, was named a CoSIDA Academic First Team All-American as well last year.
 
 
The voting deadline for this year’s CoSIDA Academic All-America teams is on June 7. The Academic All-America teams will be announced on June 23.
 
 
Orji, a native of Mount Olive, N.J., has posted a 3.96 GPA in Financial Planning. Inducted into LEAD, which is UGAAA’s Leadership Academy, Orji has been a Presidential Scholar and on the Dean’s List and named a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Individual the last two years.
 
 
The six-time SEC triple jump champion also has four NCAA titles in the event. Orji, who is also a four-time First Team All-American in the long jump, owns five of the top triple jump marks in collegiate history, including the National and American record of 47-8.
 
 
Orji has already qualified for the coming NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore. (June 7-10) after taking fourth in the long jump with a mark of 21 feet, 7 ½ inches on Thursday. Orji leads the NCAA in the triple jump (46-11.50) and will aim to advance in this event on Saturday at 6 p.m. at the NCAA East Prelims in Lexington, KY.
