UGA will play host for the first and second rounds of the National Invitational Volleyball Championship beginning on Tuesday, November 28th.

The Bulldogs will square off against Alabama A&M in round one at 7 p.m. at the Ramsey Center. UNC Greensboro and UCF will face off beforehand at 4 p.m. The winners will advance to round two Wednesday at 7 p.m., also in Ramsey.

Admission is free for both rounds. Georgia volleyball matches will be streamed to the SEC Network+.

The 2017 NIVC will feature a 32-team format. The first and second rounds will be played out Nov. 28-30. Round three will be Dec. 2-4 with the semifinals Dec. 4-6. The Championship will be Tuesday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m.

This will be the first season of the NIVC since 1995. The tournament started in 1989 and ran through the 1995 season before a 22-year hiatus. The new incarnation of the NIVC was announced at the AVCA Convention in December of 2016.

Georgia appeared in the NIVC in 1989 and 1990. The Bulldogs went 2-1 in 1989 with wins over Murray State and Arkansas State. UGA advanced to the semifinals in 1990 before being eliminated by Cal State-Northridge.

2017 is the first season that UGA will appear in the postseason since 2013 when the Bulldogs played in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

Georgia finished the regular season 20-11 with a 10-8 record in Southeastern Conference play. Outside hitter T’ara Ceasar earned All-SEC and SEC All-Freshman postseason honors.
