The Southeastern Conference announced its postseason volleyball awards Wednesday morning, and UGA volleyball freshman outside hitter T’ara Ceasar was named to the All-SEC and All-Freshman Teams.

Ceasar becomes the first All-SEC player from Georgia since Brittany Northcut in 2013 and the first freshman to appear on the All-SEC Team since Jasmine Eatmon in 2012.

“T’ara’s value on the court cannot be overstated,” head coach Tom Black remarked. “Her contributions as a primary passer, behind the service line, defensively, and of course offensively are lines another freshman in the SEC might not match for years to come. Off the court – she’s even better. She will be the first person to point out the teammates around her. We are every bit as proud of her as she helps make this team and program what we strive for it to be.”

The Panama City, Florida native is one of the top offensive players in the SEC, ranking third in kills per set (4.20) and points per set (4.89). Those figures rank 26th and 20th nationally, the highest of any freshman in the country. She also ranks fourth in the league in service aces (0.42/set).

This season, she led the Bulldogs in kills in 19 matches while leading in aces 12 times. She’s recorded eight double-doubles and had double-digit kills in a team-best 24 matches.

Ceasar set program records with seven SEC Freshman of the Week awards. The previous record was two by a freshman Bulldog. She also became the first UGA player to earn any weekly conference award seven times in a single season.

Florida’s Rhamat Alhassan was voted the SEC Player of the Year while Kentucky’s Ashley Dusek (Libero of the Year) and Madison Lilley (Freshman of the Year) were also honored. Macy Reece of Auburn was named the Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Mary Wise of Florida and Craig Skinner of Kentucky were both honored as Co-Coach of the Year.

Georgia is set to play at LSU Wednesday evening before hosting No. 6 Kentucky in the regular season finale Friday at Stegeman Coliseum.
