The University of Georgia volleyball team got back in the win column Sunday afternoon with a straight-set road victory over Tennessee (26-24, 25-20, 25-17).

Georgia (19-10, 9-7) used a balanced offense as well as defense to take the three-set match from Tennessee (12-14, 5-12) as three players recorded double-digit kills and three had double-digit digs.

“We started a little rocky but the ladies did a good job problem solving and upgrading some things in our transition game, our serve receive, and with our block defense,” head coach Tom Black said. “Tennessee is a physical team with an aggressive setter who can put a lot of pressure on the opposing team. We’ll use Monday to recover then be excited to get back to work come Tuesday.”

T’ara Ceasar picked up her eighth double-double as she led the team with 14 kills and 15 digs. Setter Meghan Donovan earned her second double-double on the weekend featuring 40 assists and 13 digs. She also had five blocks in the set.

Rachel Ritchie (12) and Majesti Bass (10) topped double-digit kills while Kendall Glover picked up 12 digs. Kianna Young co-led with Donovan with five blocks in the match.

Tennessee led early in the first set, taking four of the first five points. It wasn’t long before Georgia was able to erase the early lead and tie the set at eight all. A five-point run midway through the set put Georgia on top 20-17 but UT turned the tables to tie it at 20. Tied at 24, Ritchie and Bass recorded back-to-back kills to seal the opening-set win, 26-24.

A couple early three-point runs for Georgia opened an 11-7 lead in the second set. The Bulldogs used the early lead to cruise to a 25-20 win in the second set to take a 2-0 lead in the match. The Bulldog defense held Tennessee to a .022 hitting clip.

Georgia led the entirety of the third and final set en route to a 25-18 win in the frame, sealing the sweep of the Lady Vols. UGA hit .500 in the final set, committing only one attack error.
