82- Rushing Yards from Nate Frazier
Coming into the game, the focus of the run game was on Trevor Etienne, the former Florida Gator. After leaving the game with an injury, the Dawgs called upon freshman running back Nate Frazier. He excelled, rushing for 82 yards and a touchdown. Coach Smart talked about being proud of Frazier and his improvements in pass blocking. It is great to see a young back fill in and perform as a result of injuries to the room. While ETN should be healthy next week, and Frazier will go back to the secondary running back, it’s safe to say that Georgia has found their star running back for the next few years.
3/16- Florida’s Third Down Conversion Rate
The Dawgs defense did an incredible job of getting off the field on third down, allowing the Gators’ offense to convert just three of their 16 third down scenarios. The game took a bit of a turn when DJ Lagway went down with a left hamstring injury. The backup, Warner, played a solid game but was never really able to open things up for Florida’s passing game. While the Gators would have probably been a lot better on 3rd down with Lagway in, a lot of credit goes to Schumann and his defense for dialing up the necessary plays when needed.
455- Total Yards of Offense by Georgia
Bobo’s offense tallied a total of 455 yards, 309 in the air and 146 on the ground. While it wasn’t the most explosive offensive scheme we’ve seen, the Bulldogs found ways to move the ball down the field when it mattered most. Again, with a tight lead, Carson Beck was able to convert the Dawgs’ offense on third down, leading to another scoring drive.
3- Interceptions by Carson Beck
When looking at the stats, you can’t help but be drawn towards Beck’s three interceptions. While the offense still tallied over 450 total yards, the turnovers are a little worrisome for a lot of Bulldog Nation. After the game, he was asked if he was nervous to play in front of his home crowd, Beck mentioned his excitement going into the game. He claimed to have no nerves. He was going out there to have fun. As the season has progressed, the patience of many fans seems to be wearing thin.
76,304- Fans in the Stadium
There’s no doubt that the Bulldogs have arguably the best fans in all of college football. Rain or shine, any stadium Georgia shows up to play in will have its high number of red and black shirts scattered throughout. Huge props go out to Bulldog Nation for packing out Everbank Stadium, making the game seem like it was being played in Sanford Stadium. After the game, Coach Smart mentioned that the environment was louder than in years past, proving that the Dawgs’ crowd continues to make a difference.
