Stats That Matter: Georgia vs. Ole Miss 2024

3 – Turnovers

Once again, turnovers killed the Bulldogs’ offensive attack. While in previous games they’ve been able to overcome the errors, it was just too much to battle through against the Rebels. The most notable turnover was Nate Frazier’s fumble inside Ole Miss territory on what seemed to be a hopeful drive for the offense. If Georgia wants to make the College Football Playoff and run the table from there, the turnovers have to stop being a big part of each game’s storyline. That is, of course, unless the Dawgs are on the winning side of these turnover battles.

245 – Total Yards on Offense

The Bulldogs offense put up a disappointing 245 yards of total offense, which was ultimately the reason they lost. The attack simply could not move the ball down the field when it mattered most, whether it be from solid Ole Miss defensive plays, drops, or turnovers. All these factors resulted in a lackluster performance from Beck and the offense. A much better performance is imperative in this week’s matchup with Tennessee if the Dawgs want to make the postseason playoff bracket.

1,463 – Days it took for Georgia to lose a game to a team other than Alabama

Since losing to Florida on November 7, 2020, Georgia had not lost to a team not named Alabama until their defeat in Oxford this past weekend. This somewhat marks the end of a historic statline, as Georgia fans and players are not used to seeing losses to other teams. While it stings for all those involved, the Bulldogs can’t look back, as everything this program wants to accomplish is in front of them. Maybe, if anything, this will make fans realize that this team is human. Georgia fans have been somewhat spoiled lately, and this brings a new sense of a desire for success.

68,126 – Ole Miss attendance record

In their monumental victory against the Bulldogs, Ole Miss broke their attendance record with 68,126 fans. A lot of credit should go towards the Rebel Faithful, as their passion and noise certainly played a huge factor in the game. The fans showed out so much, in fact, they even rushed the field at the end of the game, almost certainly causing a future fine from the NCAA. They rushed the field twice, after the first attempt was premature.

5 – Amount of times Carson Beck was sacked

The Ole Miss front four seemingly dominated against Georgia’s offensive line. It felt like there was constant pressure throughout the entire matchup. In one of their five recorded sacks, Ole Miss knocked the ball out of Beck’s hand and recovered it with three minutes remaining to just about secure the game. In his one interception of the game, Beck was hit as he threw the ball. Five sacks in this game is the most Georgia’s offensive line has given up in a game all season.
