No. 10 Georgia defeats Auburn 20-10 in front of a sold-out Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Jackson Arnold and the Tigers’ offense converted on third down four times in the game’s opening drive that was capped off by an Arnold rushing touchdown.
Auburn was on the brink of taking a 17-0 lead when the officials ruled that Jackson Arnold fumbled on the 1-yard line with 1:39 remaining in the first half.
The Bulldogs only managed 78 yards of offense in the first half, but a portion of Auburn’s 70 yards in first-half penalties helped Georgia get on the board with a 29-yard field goal from Peyton Woodring for a 10-3 score at the half.
Led by the defense, Georgia scored 17 second-half points to Auburn’s zero. The Bulldogs converted two critical fourth downs in the second half to give the offense just enough fuel to keep driving down the field.
Georgia took its first lead of the game after Woodring’s 53-yard field goal with 1:30 remaining in the third quarter. Quarterback Gunner Stockton capped off a 8:45 drive with a 10-yard touchdown rush to give Georgia a 20-10 lead. The game-winning drive’s length tied the school record in terms of time.
