After days of indecision, the date and time of the Georgia vs. South Carolina football game was set by the SEC. Kickoff will be at 2:30 Sunday afternoon in Columbia. According to UGA historian Patrick Garbin, this will be the first time that Georgia has played a regular season game on Sunday.

Although the rescheduled Georgia-South Carolina game would be the first regular-season football game in UGA history to be played on a Sunday, the Bulldogs have appeared on Sunday four times in the postseason:

December 31, 1978 vs. Stanford (Bluebonnet Bowl)
January 1, 1989 vs. Michigan State (Gator Bowl)
December 29, 1991 vs. Arkansas (Independence Bowl)
December 24, 2000 vs. Virginia (O’ahu Bowl)

“Due to the potential impact of the hurricane on Columbia and the surrounding area, it is in the best interest of safety to play the game on Sunday rather than Saturday night,” SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey said. “I appreciate the cooperation of the schools who worked closely to make the appropriate operational adjustments in order to accommodate this change in the schedule.”

South Carolina has an open date on Saturday the 15th while UGA must give up a day of preparation or rest in advance of its game with SEC East foe Vanderbilt.
