KNOXVILLE, TN – Freida Lim won the women’s platform competition to highlight Georgia’s showing during the Tennessee Collegiate Diving Invitational that concluded on Friday at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center.
Lim, a sophomore from Singapore, rolled up 267.05 points on five dives. She led off with 68.6 and 63.0 on her first two dives — an inward 2.5 somersault pike and a forward 3.5 somersault pike — to seize control of the competition. Minnesota’s Kristen Hayden was second with 254.30 points and Missouri’s Madeline McKernan came in third with 253.60.
Earlier on the men’s 1-meter springboard, Ian Forlini placed fourth with 328.85 points, followed by Charlie Clifton with 321.75. Zachary Allen followed with 245.50 for 28th and Josh Getty with 233.15 for 33rd. On 3-meter, Getty placed 17th with 293.60 points. Allen took 19th with 289.05 and Forlini was 22nd with 278.90.
Allison Greene came in 23rd on 1-meter with 233.15 points. On 3-meter, Lim was 24th with 249.55 points and Greene was 31st with 203.25.
Georgia will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 13, with a swimming and diving dual meet against LSU at Gabrielsen Natatorium.
