The Georgia swimming and diving teams will continue the fall portion of their schedule this week with a challenging road trip featuring meets at Wisconsin and Northwestern.

 

Georgia will visit Wisconsin on Thursday with diving starting at 2 p.m., followed by swimming at 3 p.m. Then on Friday, Georgia will take on Northwestern at 5 p.m. Both Georgia squads are off to 2-0 starts.
 
 
“It’s going to be a test, but it’s one we’re looking forward to,” said Jack Bauerle, Georgia’s Tom Cousins Head Swimming and Diving Coach. “Teams only get better when they are challenged. We’ve been pushing our athletes in practice and now they get to be pushed by two quality opponents. When you face teams like this, especially in back-to-back days, you find out a lot about yourself. Meets like these will make us better.”
 
 
In the latest CSCAA women’s poll, Georgia is No. 4, Wisconsin is No. 12 and Northwestern is unranked. On the men’s side, Georgia is eighth, Wisconsin is 25th and Northwestern is not ranked.
 
 
The Lady Bulldogs’ Kylie Stewart currently holds the nation’s fastest time in the 100 backstroke. Megan Kingsley is fourth in the 200 butterfly and ninth in the 100 butterfly, while Stephanie Peters is No. 3 in the 1,000 freestyle and No. 10 in the 500 freestyle. Olivia Anderson is seventh in the 1,000 freestyle and Courtney Harnish is 10th in the 200 freestyle.
 
 
For the Bulldogs, Jay Litherland and James Guest both hold three top-10 times. Litherland is third in the 400 individual medley, fifth in the 200 freestyle and sixth in the 200 backstroke, while Guest is No. 3 in the 200 breaststroke, No. 6 in the 400 individual medley and No. 7 in the 100 breaststroke.
 
 
Walker Higgins ranks second and sixth in the 500 and 200 freestyle, respectively. Other Bulldogs with top-10 times include Javier Acevedo (third, 100 backstroke), Powell Brooks (fourth, 200 butterfly), Clayton Forde (fourth, 400 individual medley), Greg Reed (fifth, 1,000 freestyle), Mick Litherland (seventh, 200 butterfly), Aidan Burns (ninth, 1,000 freestyle), and Kevin Litherland (10th, 500 freestyle).
 
 
Wisconsin head coach Whitney Hite spent five seasons (1999-2003) as as assistant at Georgia.
 
 
Georgia’s next home meet will be Wednesday, Nov. 8, against Georgia Tech.
