Hali Flickinger won the women’s 200-meter butterfly title on Tuesday to highlight Georgia’s showing in the Phillips 66 USA Swimming National Championships at The Natatorium.
 
 
Flickinger, who completed her collegiate eligibility in 2016, led from start to finish as she stopped the clock in 2:07.60. The win gives Flickinger a spot on the United States World Championship roster next month in Hungary. She was a member of the U.S. squad at the Rio Olympics last summer.
 
 
Rising senior Chelsea Britt came in 12th in the women’s 200-meter butterfly with a time of 2:11.00.
 
 
The men’s 200-meter butterfly was a showcase for the Bulldogs as Pace Clark took second in 1:54.58, Chase Kalisz came in third in 1:54.79, Gunnar Bentz placed fourth in 1:55.51 and Mick Litherland checked in seventh in 1:57.90. Clark and Kalisz capped their Bulldog careers with the 2017 season, while Bentz and Litherland are rising seniors. Clark is expected to be added to the World Championships roster during this meet.
 
 
In the women’s 100-meter freestyle, Olivia Smoliga came in fifth in 54.31, Veronica Burchill placed seventh in 54.92 and Amanda Weir was 16th in 55.94. Smoliga, whose UGA career ended in March, likely will be added as a relay alternate for the World Championships. Burchill is a rising sophomore, while Weir is a former Lady Bulldog.
 
 
Kevin Litherland, a rising senior, took sixth in the men’s 1,500-meter freestyle in 15:10.93. Incoming freshman Aaron Apel was 18th in 15:33.40.
 
 
Rising senior Stephanie Peters placed 24th in the 800-meter freestyle as she reached the wall in 8:44.97.​
