Former Georgia swimmers Nicolas Fink and Melanie Margalis earned spots on the United States’ World Championships roster on Wednesday during the Phillips 66 USA Swimming National Championships at The Natatorium.
Fink placed second in the men’s 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2:08.63, while Margalis was third in the women’s 200-meter freestyle in 1:56.90. Fink will compete in his event and Margalis will be on the 4×200-meter relay at the World Championships next month in Hungary.
Also in the women’s 200-meter freestyle Wednesday, rising senior Meaghan Raab placed 13th in 1:59.57 and incoming freshman Courtney Harnish was 17th in 2:00.49.
In the women’s 200-meter backstroke, former Lady Bulldog Hali Flickinger came in sixth in 2:11.29 and rising senior Kylie Stewart took eighth in 2:13.29.
Rising seniors Jay Litherland and Gunnar Bentz were seventh and 14th, respectively, in the men’s 200-meter freestyle with times of 1:47.74 and 1:48.58.
In the women’s 50-meter butterfly, rising sophomore Veronica Burchill touched in 26.87 for 12th.
Incoming freshman Camden Murphy came in 20th in the men’s 50-meter butterfly with a time of 24.69.
