The UGA swimming and diving teams swept Georgia Tech on Wednesday at Gabrielsen Natatorium, marking the Bulldogs’ 51st straight win over the Yellow Jackets. The No. 5-ranked Lady Bulldogs (6-0) picked up a 179-121 victory, while the No. 12 Bulldogs (5-1) posted a 182-113 decision.

 
“We were good today, we’re in a good place as a program, but we can always get better,” said Jack Bauerle, Georgia’s Tom Cousins Swimming and Diving Head Coach. “We’re making progress. We are so much better now than we were in August. We have to do everything right to be good, and today was a good indication of that.”
 
 
Jay Litherland, Greg Reed, and Camden Murphy were double winners for the Bulldogs. Litherland won the 200 backstroke in 1:47.00 and went 1:47.71 to claim the 200 individual medley. Reed won the 500 and the 1,000 freestyle races in 4:26.87 and 9:03.08, respectively. Murphy swept the butterfly races, taking the 100 in 47.67 and the 200 in 1:46.23.
 
 
Ian Forlini won the 1-meter springboard with 329.18 points, Javier Acevedo won the 100 backstroke in 47.68 and James Guest stopped the clock in 54.34 to take the 100 breaststroke. In the 200 medley relay, Acevedo, Guest, Murphy, and Alex Bemiller took top honors in 1:28.20.
 
 
Meaghan Raab won twice to pace the Lady Bulldogs. She claimed the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:46.97 and the 200 individual medley in 1:59.50.
 
 
Meg Finnon won the 500 freestyle in 4:52.96 and Meryn McCann claimed the 1,000 freestyle in 9:58.72. The Lady Bulldogs swept the backstroke races as Maddie Wallis went 55.45 in the 100 and Courtney Harnish went 1:57.86 in the 200. In the breaststroke events, Danielle Della Torre won the 100 in 1:03.72 and Lexi Glunn won the 200 in 2:17.71. Georgia also controlled the butterfly races as Megan Kingsley won the 100 in 54.39 and Caitlin Casazza took the 200 in 1:58.48.
 
 
The 200 medley relay of Kylie Stewart, Casazza, Chelsea Britt and Raab reached the wall first in 1:41.40. In the 400 freestyle relay, Stewart, Donna Blaum, Sammie Burchill and Veronica Burchill won in 3:24.90.
 
 
The Bulldogs have won 51 straight meets against Georgia Tech dating back to the 1961-62 season, while the Lady Bulldogs boast 13 straight victories over the Jackets. Bauerle is 38-0 all-time against Georgia Tech (23-0 coaching the men, 12-0 coaching the women and 3-0 as a Georgia swimmer).
 
 
Georgia will return to action Dec. 1-3 when it hosts the UGA Fall Invitational at Gabrielsen Natatorium.
