Ten Bulldog swimmers from the UGA’s swimming & diving teams are headed to the NCAA Championships, which will take place on from March 22-25 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

 
 
Javier Acevedo, Gunnar Bentz, Aidan Burns, Pace Clark, Taylor Dale, James Guest, Walker Higgins, Chase Kalisz, Jay Litherland and Kevin Litherland made the field for the Bulldogs.
 
 
Clayton Forde (400 individual medley) and Mick Litherland (200 butterfly) are listed among the 10 alternates.
 
 
Bentz, Kalisz and Jay Litherland will compete in the maximum three individual events.
 
 
Georgia will field relays in the 400 and 800 freestyle and the 200 and 400 medley. Georgia may be adding relay-only alternates to the travel squad in the coming days, with Forde, Mick Litherland, John Mattern and Alex BeMiller as the top candidates.
 
 
Kalisz holds the nation’s fastest time in the 400 individual medley this year and he stands third in both the 200 individual medley and the 200 butterfly. Kalisz won the 2015 title in the 400 individual medley, setting the American, U.S. Open, NCAA, NCAA Championships and school records. He then redshirted in 2016 to train for the Rio Olympics, where he earned a silver medal in the 400 individual medley. Kalisz won the 200 and 400 individual medley at this year’s SECs, shattering the league records in each and boosting his career total to seven conference wins.
 
 
Jay Litherland is No. 3 in the 400 individual medley this season, while Clark is No. 5 in the 200 butterfly.
 
 
Georgia will have three seniors, three juniors, two sophomores and two freshmen in the swimming events at the NCAAs. Earlier this week, freshman Charlie Clifton and junior Ian Forlini also qualified during the Zone B Diving Championships.
 
 
California leads the field with 17 swimmers, followed by Texas with 15, Stanford with 14, Florida with 13, Auburn with 11, and Georgia, Louisville, N.C. State and Southern Cal with 10 each.
 
 
The Lady Bulldogs will compete in their NCAAs next Wednesday through Saturday, also in Indianapolis. Georgia has had at least one male or female individual or relay win a NCAA title each year starting with 1995. The Bulldogs have also placed in the top 10 at the NCAAs eight times in the past nine seasons.
