ATHENS—– TENNIS: UGA Men’s 2015-16 schedule announced. The three-time defending SEC champion Georgia men’s tennis team will play a minimum of 12 NCAA Tournament teams from last season, including home matches against Ohio State, Georgia Tech, Tennessee and Florida as the Bulldogs’ 2015-16 schedule was announced Tuesday.
[su_spacer size=”20″] The fall season opens with the annual Southern Intercollegiate Championships Sept. 11-14 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex, and the first dual match is slated for Jan. 23 at home against UC Santa-Barbara.
[su_spacer size=”40″] “We’re excited about the schedule we have for the upcoming year,” said Manuel Diaz, who is entering his 28th season as Georgia’s head coach. “I think it sets up well for us to be playing at the top of our game when it matters most at the end of the season. We’ll have several strong non-conference opponents again this year, and we’ll face the usual tough challenge of the SEC schedule. Our guys are looking forward to it.”

In addition to the Southern Intercollegiate Championships, the fall slate includes the inaugural Oracle/ITA Masters (Malibu, Calif.), Cajun Tennis Classic (Baton Rouge, La.), All-American Championships (Tulsa, Okla.), ITA Southeast Regional Championships (Gainesville, Fla.), SEC Fall Classic (Auburn, Ala.), National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships (New York) and the Bulldog Scramble (Athens).
[su_spacer size=”40″] **It was previously announced that for the eighth consecutive year, the University of Georgia will serve as host for the ITA Kickoff Weekend in January. UGA will welcome Louisville, Memphis and UC Santa Barbara to the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Facility Jan. 23-24, 2016.
[su_spacer size=”40″] **The Pac-12/SEC Showdown will be held for the third consecutive year Jan. 22-24 in Los Angeles. It will include Georgia, Florida, UCLA and USC. UCLA will be the host school.
[su_spacer size=”40″] **The non-conference home schedule includes matches against UC-Santa Barbara, Georgia Tech, East Tennessee State, Ohio State and either Louisville or Memphis.
[su_spacer size=”40″] **Georgia will play SEC home matches against Mississippi State, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida and Auburn. The Bulldogs will travel to Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Texas A&M, LSU, Arkansas and Ole Miss.
[su_spacer size=”40″] **The ITA National Team Indoor Championships will be held in Charlottesville, Va., Feb. 12-15.
[su_spacer size=”40″] **South Carolina will play host to the SEC Tournament April 20-24, and the NCAA First and Second Rounds will again be held on 16 campus sites to be determined.
[su_spacer size=”40″] **The NCAA Championships will be held in Tulsa, Okla., for the first time since 2008, which is also the last time Georgia won the NCAA title. The NCAA Championships return to Athens for the 32nd time in May 2017.
