Dawg Bones Offense – Auburn
We’ve only seen one week of Todd Monken’s new system, so Auburn will get the Dawg Bone for offense. The Tigers have a much more established offense and are led by sophomore Bo Nix, except on the offensive line. Still, they have a ton of skill players coming back. They return established running back D.J. Williams and a trio of talented receivers, including Seth Williams, Anthony Schwartz, and Eli Stove. Nix will likely be asked to do more this season with his arm and is a real threat in the run game as well. Plus, the Tigers are led by Chad Morris, who now has taken over the play-calling duties from Malzahn. On the other hand, Georgia’s offense is still coming to fruition and they’ve only played one game against a weak Arkansas defense. There’s still a ton of talent on Georgia’s offense, but it will face a much stronger Tigers defense in week two.

Dawg Bones – Defense – Georgia
The Tigers have a really talented defense but lost a few key names on defense from last year. Those names include Derrick Brown, Marlin Davidson, and Nick Coe on the defensive line. That’s a lot of leadership that the Tigers have lost, but they do return a few talented linebackers. Still, Georgia’s defense is riding high after a great performance from last year. Last season, the Bulldogs dominated Bo Nix and company for most of the game until going into prevent defense late in the fourth quarter. Georgia’s secondary is very talented as Auburn will look to pass more under the direction of Chad Morris. Up front, Georgia’s defensive line will look to contain Williams and Nix. Last season, as a team the Tigers rushed the ball 36 times for 84 total yards.

Dawg Bones Special Teams – Auburn
Georgia’s new placekicker Jack Podlesny only has one game under his belt and Auburn returns junior Anders Carlson. Carlson nailed 72 percent (18/25) of his field goals last season with a long of 52 yards. He also only missed one extra last year as well. Georgia punter Jake Camarda is still working on being consistent and is just as talented as Auburn punter Arryn Siposs. The Tigers punt return game will be dangerous as they either have the option of Christian Tutt or Matthew Hill. Georgia is still transitioning their new guys into the kick and return game.

Dawg Bones Coaching – Georgia
Since being hired at Georgia in 2016, Kirby Smart is 4-1 against Auburn head coach Guz Malzahn. The Tigers stunned an undefeated Georgia team in 2017, but the Bulldogs got the last laugh after thumping the Tigers in the SEC Championship a few weeks later. Since then Georgia has beaten Auburn two more times over the past two seasons. Some might say that Malzahn is on the hot seat if he doesn’t produce this season, even if he beat Alabama in 2019. Both programs have new offensive coordinators, so that’s a toss up. On the defensive side, Dan Lanning has one of the best defensive units in all of college football at Georgia.

Dawg Bones Overall – Georgia
Georgia is coming off a much easier matchup heading into the matchup. Even though there still are questions on offense, the Bulldogs have the edge because of their defense. Auburn has a lot of turnover on the offensive line and that could be great for Georgia’s defensive line. The Tigers’ secondary also has a few holes in it, and Todd Monken with Georgia’s offense could take advantage of that. It will be interesting to see if history can repeat itself again in 2020.
