Dawg Bones OFFENSE: Georgia
Georgia has the second most productive offense in the SEC, while Kentucky has the least. There’s a 1,600 yard disparity between Georgia and Kentucky’s total production which leans Georgia’s way. And some may bring up the “Will Levis is a first-round pick” gist, but the fact of the matter is no one he’s throwing or handing the ball off to will go that high. Levis is a sharp tool in a dusty shed while the Georgia offense in comparison is simply put: a well-oiled machine.
Dawg Bones DEFENSE: Georgia
In the SEC, both Georgia and Kentucky boast the best and third best defenses respectively, but the thing that sets Georgia apart is their run defense. The Dawgs have allowed 825 rushing yards on the season to the Wildcat’s 1,350, and overall you can say Georgia has the more talented roster. Kirby Smart and his crew take the cake here especially after Kentucky’s wild loss to Vanderbilt last week.
Dawg Bones SPECIAL TEAMS: Georgia
Kentucky’s kick return game is a bit better than Georgia’s, but Georgia’s punt returning is better than Kentucky’s unit. So they’re about even in the returning category, but the Dawgs pull away with Podlesny at boot. His season field goal percentage is 89.5% to the Kentucky kicker, Matt Ruffalo’s 63.2%. Both have taken 19 attempts.
Dawg Bones COACHING: Georgia
Proof is in the pudding. One of these coaching staffs is leading the College Football Playoff committee ranked No. 1 team in the nation to an SEC Championship where they’ll likely be favored, and one of them isn’t. You can also assess how these staff are instilling discipline within their teams by looking at the amount of penalties they’ve drawn thus far. As of week 9, the Dawgs have had 17 less penalties than the Cats, and nothing much should change in Lexington.
Dawg Bones OVERALL: Georgia
The College Football Playoff committee thinks this is the No. 1 team in the nation. The Associated Press poll thinks this is the No. 1 team in the nation. You probably think this is the No. 1 team in the nation. And truth is that the Georgia Bulldogs are undoubtedly the No. 1 team in the nation. Not only has Kirby Smart recruited the most, if not one of the most, talented rosters in the nation, he’s created an unbeatable culture amongst that group in the process. Yes, this will be a home game for the Kentucky Wildcats, but should be nothing more than a business trip for the Georgia Bulldogs.
