DAWG BONES OFFENSE – EVEN

Both offenses are similarly structured with strong offensive lines, a good run game, and lots of use for tight ends in the passing game. The Wolverines run the ball very well with a 1-2 punch of Hassan Haskins and Blake Corum. Those two have combined for 31 touchdowns this season. Georgia’s offense fell flat against Alabama, especially in the second half. However, the Bulldogs are still the seventh-best scoring offense in the country and will likely be motivated to bounce back after their first loss of the season.

DAWG BONES DEFENSE – GEORGIA

There will be lots of future NFL talent on the defensive side of the ball for both teams when they square off in the Orange Bowl. Michigan has a generational player in Aiden Hutchinson and another great edge rusher in David Ajabo. Georgia’s defense has been touted as one of the best in recent memory but could not generate as much pressure on Alabama’s front as they have most of the year. Luckily for the Bulldogs, they will not be facing an offense as dynamic as the Crimson Tide’s. The Bulldogs take the advantage on defense.

DAWG BONES SPECIAL TEAMS – EVEN

Georgia and Michigan are both solid on special teams, with kickers that are dependable. Michigan’s Jake Moody and Georgia’s Jack Podlesny have only combined to miss five field goals all season. The Bulldogs will have an advantage with punter Jake Camarda, who shined in the SEC Championship. It will be interesting to see who can generate more big plays in the return game.

DAWG BONES COACHING – GEORGIA

Wolverines’ head coach Jim Harbaugh just won AP college football coach of the year. Despite some narratives around Harbaugh not winning big games, he’s been a very successful coach at all levels of football. Georgia still has the better overall staff with Kirby Smart at the helm. OC Todd Monken has been stellar and Dan Lanning’s exit to Oregon brings about a stellar Schumann/Muschamp combo to keep things rolling at DC. Georgia was out-coached against Alabama, it would be a surprise to see that happen in two consecutive games with the roster that UGA has.

DAWG BONES OVERALL – GEORGIA

This is a great matchup that both fan bases should be excited about. It should be a physical game, where both teams will try to run the ball. Michigan is playing their best football of the season heading into the Orange Bowl, but Georgia still has the better roster from top to finish. It will be important for Georgia to not let the SEC Championship loss affect them in a negative way heading into a matchup with this talented, nothing to lose, Wolverines squad.
