The Dawg Bones – Georgia vs. Missouri 2022

Dawg Bones OFFENSE: GEORGIA

This one is easy. Coach Smart wouldn’t buy it, because the proof is in the statistics, but against Power 5 opponents, Georgia has averaged 48 points scored per game versus Missouri’s 13. Missouri’s offense has shown up against lower level competition, but the truth is Georgia will not be lower level competition. Georgia also happens to start two, yes two different Heisman candidates on offense in Stetson Bennett and Brock Bowers. Add to that offensive coordinator Todd Monken has his offense clicking on all cylinders.

Dawg Bones DEFENSE: GEORGIA

The Dawgs may have disappointed some last week, but this week’s performance should be nothing close to the 22 point outing Kent State had. Missouri’s front seven are almost all seniors, so they’ll bring experience when going up against the Dawg’s offensive line, but it just isn’t comparable to the depth and talent that Georgia boasts at every position. To put it into perspective, the best player in the state of South Carolina’s 2021 class, Tyrion Ingram Dawkins, is currently a rotational player. Georgia’s second string could start at Missouri.

Dawg Bones SPECIAL TEAMS: GEORGIA

In terms of kickers, Missouri will field Harrison Mevis who has more experience connecting from further distances and kicked at a 92% success rate last season. The punters of both teams seem to be around the same talent-wise, but if Georgia plays well enough, Thorson may not have the opportunity to prove otherwise. Moving on from that aspect of special teams, do keep in mind that 10 other people take the field alongside a kicker. Once it comes down to that, Georgia wins that category because of the depth of talent on the Bulldog’s roster.

Dawg Bones COACHING: GEORGIA

Kirby Smart has built a staff that can succeed at all assets of the game. Whether it’s recruiting, game planning, or building relationships with the players, the Georgia coaching staff is superior. An overlooked reason behind why Georgia is winning the way they are is the fact that these guys are proud to play their role. Big or small, Georgia players have bought into their role and are ready to contribute in any way possible. You don’t get that without proper coaching.

Dawg Bones OVERALL: GEORGIA

Georgia is on a four game winning streak in 2022, and even if they didn’t have that momentum they’d still be heavily favored. While the Dawgs had slip-ups against Kent State, a good bit of that was because Georgia wasn’t familiar with Kent State’s schemes. On the other hand, Missouri is an SEC opponent that the Dawgs know well. Georgia should take this game handily.
