DAWG BONES OFFENSE – GEORGIA
After scoring 62 points on Vanderbilt, the Bulldogs have to get the nod here. Offensive coordinator Todd Monken seems to finally be getting comfortable, dialing up creative play calls all over the field. Arkansas’ offense has greatly improved from last year, but also has not faced a defense as talented as Georgia’s. Look for JT Daniels to have a big day and get to play for longer than he has the past two weeks.
DAWG BONES DEFENSE – GEORGIA
Georgia’s defense continues to dominate, pitching their first (true) shutout of the season against Vanderbilt. They did not allow a point to UAB, but the Blazers scored a defensive touchdown. Kirby Smart said this week that the athleticism on the front seven is what sets this defense apart from others. That’s been apparent in every game, as the Bulldogs’ defense just seems to fly around the field. Arkansas has an athletic defense too, but will also see the best offense and quarterback yet, facing JT Daniels and Georgia.
DAWG BONES SPECIAL TEAMS – GEORGIA
Special teams is the closest category between the two teams. Arkansas kicker Cam Little has been tremendous this season, as has Georgia punter Jake Camarda. Georgia did not have to punt much against Vanderbilt, but placekicker Jack Podlesny got back on track with two made field goals in the game. Podlesny is now 4-of-6 on the season. Georgia’s punt return game has started to get going as well with Kearis Jackson getting healthy.
DAWG BONES COACHING – GEORGIA
Sam Pittman has done a tremendous job at Arkansas so far. If you told people that they would be ranked in the top 10 in just his second season, even the diehard Hogs fans would be pleasantly surprised. They do not compare to Kirby Smart and his staff yet, but Pittman certainly has the Razorbacks on the right track. It will be interesting to see how Georgia offensive coordinator Todd Monken schemes against this Arkansas defense too. His end-around play calls were tremendous against Vanderbilt.
DAWG BONES OVERALL – GEORGIA
This is not an indictment against Arkansas or anything they have done this season. Beating Texas and Texas A&M is a huge jump for a program that has finished in the bottom half of the SEC West standings for the last few years. Georgia is just on another level right now. The Bulldogs have been dominant in nearly every phase this year, and playing at home will only help Georgia, even if it is a noon kickoff.
