10 Dawgs on Tour were fielded at this past weekend’s Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches with six making the cut and playing this weekend. Russell Henley was your low Dawg of the weekend, shooting -15 on the tournament and finishing tied for sixth. This marks the sixth time in the last eight weeks that a Dawg has been in the top 10. It is also Henley’s third top 10 finish of the 2025 regular season.
Six more will be in action this weekend at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando while Will Chandler and Connor Creasy, who qualified on Monday, will be the only two Bulldogs at the Puerto Rico Open in Rio Grande.
However, that’s not all we can be excited for as golf jumps into full swing. Come next weekend, expect a large contingency of Georgia guys once again at the Players Championship in Ponte Vedra, the fifth major and largest purse on Tour.
The Dawgs on Tour have been hot, particularly Sepp Straka and Henley. As aforementioned, Henley has three top 10 finishes while Straka has two, including a win at the American Express. Straka currently sits at No. 2 in the FedEx Cup standings as well. Harris English is the only other winner from UGA this year, securing a victory the very next week at the Farmers Insurance Open in San Diego. The other two Dawgs on Tour to make a top 10 appearance are Greyson Sigg and Will Chandler, ranked No. 161 and No. 301 respectively in the Official World Golf Ranking.
Sigg’s T9 finish at the Farmers Insurance Open marked his ninth top 10 since joining the Tour in 2022. He’s climbed 20 spots in the WGR since the conclusion of 2024 and holds the No. 77 spot in the FedEx Cup standings.
Chandler, on the other hand, has made a splash in his debut season on Tour. Missing the cut in his first two starts, Chandler had only one chance to qualify for the Waste Management Phoenix Open, one of golf’s best atmospheres: a Monday qualifying round. The Tour rookie finished in the top three of those attempting to qualify, sending him to Thursday with a chance to play in front of golf’s most insane crowd.
Scottie Scheffler, the world’s best golfer, was paired with Chandler on Sunday tied at -10. Chandler’s -5 score on Sunday would outscore Scheffler’s +1 score by six strokes as Chandler finished the day and tournament T6 at -15. His earnings from the tournament amounted to $310,500, his first ever PGA Tour paycheck. What a story for the young Atlanta native?
