The No. 17-ranked Georgia Lady Bulldogs endured another tough loss today in Athens against the No. 1 ranked South Carolina Gamecocks Sunday afternoon at Stegman Coliseum.

The Lady Bulldogs struggled to find their rhythm and do the simple things right today.

Following this loss, Georgia dropped to 17-7 overall and 6-6 in the SEC. The Lady Bulldogs have now lost 3 consecutive SEC games.

The Lady Bulldogs started off today’s game fairly strong and were even tied 6-6 halfway through the first quarter. Georgia’s ace center, Jenna Staiti collected two fouls early on and quickly made her way back to the bench.

The Gamecocks went on a huge run and closed out the first quarter 23-4, outscoring the Lady Bulldogs by 19 entering the second quarter.

During the second quarter, Georgia seemed to find somewhat of a rhythm and went on a 10-0 run. This run was not enough and the Lady Bulldogs went into the half down 51-25.

The Lady Gamecocks were able to capitalize on the 13 turnovers the Lady Bulldogs made before half, resulting in 25 points for this South Carolina team.

After halftime this Georgia team fought back hard to close in the gap. Que Morrison even pulled out a trick move for two, but it was not enough. The Lady Bulldogs were still behind 61-40.

Entering the fourth quarter down by 21, the Lady Bulldogs were able to find some success This Georgia team never gave up, but it was not enough today.

“In terms of intensity and effort it’s there, it hasn’t gone anywhere so we’re gonna continue to coach, continue to demand, continue to teach and get ready for the next game,” said head coach Joni Taylor.
Georgia will be back in action this coming Thursday at 7:00 PM against Missouri in Stegman Coliseum.
