After losing four juniors to the draft on top of the 16 graduating seniors, there are a few position groups that are lacking depth at spring practice.

With Isaac Nauta declaring for the draft and Luke Ford transferring to Illinois, the Bulldogs are in need of tight ends.

Junior Charlie Woerner and redshirt sophomore John Fitzpatrick are the now obvious leaders of the group. Head coach Kirby Smart said that they have moved Kolby Wyatt from defensive line to tight end after seeing how he performed as an “outside backer” in last year’s fall camp.

“He did a really good job. He has gotten bigger. We moved him to give us a little more depth,” said Smart. “He has done some really competitive things. He is fighting his tail off.”

He also mentioned walk-on Peyton Mercer’s success in spring practice.

“Obviously we have got help on the way and we want more help. If you ask me how it looks right now, it is thin,” said Smart.

Georgia has Ryland Goede from Kennesaw, Georgia and Brett Seither from Clearwater, Florida set to join the team in the fall.
