Georgia Spring begins Tuesday at Georgia’s temporary practice facility off South Milledge Avenue. New coaches, new players, and new facilities point to a dramatic change in the direction of Georgia football. Tomorrow is the actual kickoff of the Kirby Smart era.

Up to now, all of our efforts as media pundits have been guesswork. Tomorrow we start to see how the changes that Coach Smart has brought from his apprenticeship with Nick Saban are going to play in Athens. And make no mistake, there are plenty of changes on the ground already. The new emphasis on G-Day, renewed energy in recruiting, new levels of financial support (including staffing) – all the right groundwork has been laid. Tuesday at 4:10, the ball lands squarely in Kirby Smart’s court.

It is time for potential to become accomplishment.

In his first press conference after being named head coach, Coach Smart talked about his guiding principle – What’s Important Now (WIN). The football part starts tomorrow, and for coaches and players, this is the fun part.
