Georgia sophomore Keturah Orji has been named the Southeastern Conference Indoor Women’s Field Athlete of the Year, according to a league announcement on Monday.
 
 
Orji, a native of Mount Olive, N.J., became the first SEC competitor to win two consecutive women’s triple jump titles since former Bulldog Colleen Felix (2011-12) after Orji opened with a mark of 46 feet, 2 ½ inches the last weekend in February. She passed on her final three opportunities and won by a foot and a half.
 
 
Her winning mark passed the 16-year-old SEC meet record by two inches, topped her own school record of 45-10.50 (an American Junior record set in 2015), made her the No. 6 all-time collegiate performer with the No. 8 all-time collegiate performance and gave her the 11th-longest jump in the world this year.
 
 
Orji was the Lady Bulldogs’ leading scorer at the SEC meet with 15 points by also matching her personal best in the long jump with a mark of 21-4.25 (No. 6 on national list, No. 5 on UGA all-time list) for fourth place.
 
 
During the regular season, Orji also posted a meet and facility record triple jump effort of 45-2.50 to win the Samford Invitational.
 
 
Orji was the SEC Women’s Freshman Field Athlete of the Year indoors and outdoors last year. She is the fourth Lady Bulldog to win the SEC Indoor Women’s Field Athlete of the Year honor and the first since Patty Sylvester in 2007.
