Georgia’s Trent Phillips has been named the Southeastern Conference Golfer of the Week, according to an announcement Wednesday by the league office.

Philips, a junior from Inman, S.C., claimed co-medalist honors at the 2021 Gators Invitational presented by VyStar on Saturday. He landed at 11-under 199 with rounds of 6-under 64, 5-under 65, and even-par 70.

The win in Florida was the second of Phillips’ career as he also took the 2019 Ka’anapali Collegiate Classic in Hawaii. He now owns 15 top 10s and 20 top 20s in 24 career starts.

 

 

 

 

Phillips ranks second in the SEC with a scoring average of 69.33. Six of his 12 rounds this season have been in the 60s and nine have been par or better. In the Gators Invitational, he registered a tournament-best two eagles and 14 birdies.

Phillips and the Bulldogs will return to action Feb. 26-28 in the LSU Invitational in Baton Rouge, La.
