The roller coaster ride continues for UGA’s 2018 college football recruiting as linebacker Donovan Georges announced his decision to de-commit from the Bulldogs on Monday and reopen up his recruitment.

The three-star inside linebacker out of Champagnat Catholic High School, Hialeah, FL committed to Georgia back on January 31st, just a few days before National Signing Day. That leaves the Bulldogs, again, with just two prospects currently committed for the 2018 class, kicker/punter Jake Camarda and defensive back Chris Smith II. Right now, Georgia’s 2019 recruiting class is double that, with four prospects currently verbally committed to the Dogs.

And for fans, this does not help qualm any of the perception that the Georgia coaching staff is struggling with recruiting for 2018 after they signed a tremendous top-three 2017 class. In the last several months, the Bulldogs have seen 2018 weakside defensive end/outside linebacker Adam Anderson flip his committment to LSU and offensive lineman Max Wray de-commit along with defensive end Brenton Cox choose Ohio State over Georgia in addition to Monday’s de-commitment by Georges.

Right now, any good news on the recruiting front would be welcomed by both coaches and fans alike. Fortunately, Bulldawg Nation may not have to wait too terribly long as the nation’s number one running back, Zamir White, is set to announce his decision on June 27th, but current Georgia commit, Chris Smith, thinks that there could be some commitments to the red and black before the end of the month.

If it is any consolation, the Bulldogs are in good company as Alabama also only has two commitments for 2018 currently, and the Tide just lost a commitment from top-ten 2018 Peach State running back Dameon Pierce last Friday.
