The Georgia Bulldogs tallied 16 hits on their way to a series-clinching15-4 win over the Longwood Lancers Sunday at Foley Field.

Georgia (10-5) was held to three runs through six innings and trailed Longwood (5-8) by a run heading to the bottom of the seventh.The Bulldog offense would send 12 batters to the plate, scoring eight runs on the strength of five hits, three hit-by-pitches, and a walk. The eight-run inning was their largest offensive output in one inning this season.

“We didn’t waste any at bats really the entire game,” Georgia head coach Scott Stricklin said. “We had some guys come in late in the game and get some pinch hitting appearances. I thought everybody had good at bats.”

Nick King (3-for-3), Zack Bowers (2-for-3, home run, 3 RBIs, 3 runs scored), Brandon Stephens (2-for-3, 2 RBIs, 2 runs scored), Jared Walsh (3-for-4, double, 3 runs scored) Skyler Weber (3-for-4, 3 RBIs, run scored) all had multi-hit games for Georgia at the plate.

King, the only Bulldog starter to go perfect at the plate, was also stellar defensively as he had a game-high four assists at shortstop.

“He hit the ball really hard today,” Stricklin said of King. “He had a couple of line drives, thought he had some good at bats, stealing bases and defensively he is awfully good out there. It’s good to see Nick get going and when you can get production out of that nine hole that’s huge.”

Georgia would add four runs in their last inning at the plate as they used back-to-back multi-base hits, a Bowers solo home run and a Walsh double in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Freshman Ryan Avidano (2-0) got his second win in as many starts for the Bulldogs going seven innings, allowing four runs on ten hits and five strikeouts, a career high. FreshmanBlake Hamilton made his Georgia debut tossing a scoreless eighth inning, issuing one walk.Austin Wallace and Mike Mancuso would combine to close out the ninth inning. Wallace recorded back-to-back strikeouts after the first two batters reached and Mancuso closed the game with a ground out to shortstop.

Brandon Vick made his fourth start of the year for the Lancers, tossing six innings, allowing three runs on seven hits.Mitchell Kuebbing (0-3) would be left with the decision as he was charged with three runs in relief, unable to record out after issuing a hit and a hit-by-pitch.

The Bulldogs return to Foley Field for a pair of midweek contests with the Appalachain State Mountaineers. First pitch is scheduled for 5pm EDT.
