UGA BASEBALL: Final Summer League Report

[su_spacer size=”20″] Robert Tyler led Team USA with a 3-0 record while Trey Logan, Henry Rowling and Stephen Wrenn were part of championship teams to highlight summer league action by the Bulldogs.

 

While the fall semester at the University of Georgia begins Aug. 17, baseball practice will resume at Foley Field on Sept. 13. The 2016 baseball season opens on Feb. 19, and Georgia’s complete 56-game schedule will be released later this year. Here’s how the Bulldogs fared in summer league action:

 

Robert Tyler, USA Collegiate National Team

Posted a perfect 3-0 record and a 1.00 ERA in nine innings, appearing in three games with two starts…Made July 4th start against Cuba in front of a sellout crowd of 10,352 at BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte, pitched four scoreless innings and allowed just one hit in an 11-1 series-clinching victory…USA Team went 9-8…Also pitched briefly for the Bourne Braves in the Cape Cod League before reporting to USA Team Camp in mid-June.

 

Stephen Wrenn, Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox (Cape Cod)

Batted .273 with four doubles, five home runs, 16 RBI and nine stolen bases in 39 regular season games and then returned home…Red Sox went 28-24 overall including 6-2 in the postseason to claim their second straight CCBL title

 

Henry Rowling, Lima Locos (Great Lakes)

Batted .274 with five doubles, two home runs and 11 RBI in 22 games… Locos finished 28-7 during the regular season and then captured the GLSCL title…Went 0-1 at the plate in the postseason.

 

Trey Logan, Lima Locos (Great Lakes)

Batted .190 with four RBI and four stolen bases in 23 games…Locos finished 28-7 during the regular season and then captured the GLSCL title…Went 2-for-4 with a run scored during the postseason.

 

Heath Holder, Lexington County Blowfish (Coastal Plain)

In the regular season, posted a 1-2 record and 3.00 ERA in nine starts, tallying 48 innings with 43 strikeouts and 25 walks including a no-hitter (the first in the CPL since 2013)… Blowfish went 28-28 during the regular season and advanced to the finals of the West Division playoffs… Made one start in the postseason and did not get a decision (6 IP, 5H, 2R, 1 ER, 0BB, 2K) as team won the game 4-3.

 

Nick King, San Luis Obispo Blues (California Collegiate)

Batted .250 with 11 doubles, 20 RBI and 17­ stolen bases in 41 games during the regular season… Named a CCL All-Star and went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases in a 7-4 victory as a member of the North squad…Blues finished 32-16 in the regular season and advanced to the first round of the playoffs…Collected a pair of hits including a double, a stolen base and two RBI in the postseason.

 

Bo Tucker, Falmouth Commodores (Cape Cod)

Went 0-1 with a 7.31 ERA in 10 games including three starts, posting 12 strikeouts in 16 innings…Commodores finished 13-24.

 

Mitchell Webb, Peninsula Pilots (Coastal Plain)

Batted .131 with two doubles, one home run and eight RBI in 24 games including 15 starts…Pilots finished the season 28-25…Team advanced to the semifinals of the divisional playoffs.

 

Skyler Weber, Peninsula Pilots (Coastal Plain)

Batted .299 with four doubles, six home runs, 25 RBI and 21 stolen bases in 39 games, all starts…Pilots finished the season 28-25…Team advanced to the semifinals of the divisional playoffs.
