On Friday evening, the Diamond Dogs defeated the Yellow Jackets 6-5 at Foley Field in Athens, GA, grabbing game one in the three-game weekend series with Tech. After the game, UGA baseball head coach Scott Stricklin shares his thoughts on the win.
Coach Stricklin on the importance of tonight’s game:
“A lot of emotion in this rivalry, two top-25 teams that are competing and then you put the in-state aspect into it. It was great to come out on top, but now we’ve got to win the series. We had a couple of guys come off the bench and they were ready to pinch-hit and got the job done including Patrick Sullivan with a big RBI-single.”
With the win, the Bulldogs moved to 9-1 on the season. Georgia will take on Tech in game two of the weekend series and that game will be in Atlanta at Russ Chandler Stadium at 2 p.m. ET. The Diamond Dogs will wrap up the series with the Yellow Jackets on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET from Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, GA.
