Georgia plays host to Western Carolina on Wednesday at 6 p.m. and then travels to Missouri for a league series with the Tigers starting Friday. All four games will be available on SEC Network+.
 
 
Georgia (23-25 overall, 8-16 SEC) concluded a school-record 22-game stretch against ranked opponents this past Sunday with a 13-2 win over #7 Ole Miss. The Bulldogs went 8-14 in this stretch and boast one of the nation’s best strength of schedules and an RPI of 30. Currently, Georgia has nine wins over top 25 opponents and that trails only Miss. State (13) and Florida (11) in the SEC. The Bulldogs are tied for 10th in the SEC with Auburn while Missouri, Tennessee and Arkansas are a game back at 7-17. The top 12 teams advance to the SEC Tournament. Georgia closes out the regular season at home against the Volunteers.
 
 
Georgia is batting .252 with an ERA of 4.69 and fielding .968. In SEC action, the Bulldogs are hitting .259 with a 5.54 ERA and fielding .962. Georgia is coached by Scott Stricklin, and WCU is led by Bobby Moranda. They served on the same Tech staff from 2002-04 before Stricklin got the head job at Kent State in 2005. Also of note, Moranda was an assistant at Wake Forest during Scott Daeley’s playing career. The Catamounts are 23-23 overall.
 
 
Last week, Georgia went 1-2, dropping a home series to #7 Ole Miss. Georgia salvaged the final game of the series with a 13-2 rout of the Rebels, smashing three home runs including a grand slam by senior shortstop Nick King and freshman catcher Michael Curry’s team-leading seventh shot, a three-run-blast.
 
 
Georgia’s leading hitters are juniors Skyler Weber (.317-4-28, 10 SB) and Stephen Wrenn (.294-4-23, 11 SB) while the RBI leader is sophomore Keegan McGovern (.253-5-29), who also has a team-high 33 walks. McGovern has started all 48 games in left field while Weber has made 33 starts in right field, 14 at catcher and one as a designated hitter.
 
 
On the mound, senior Heath Holder (3-3, 3.19 ERA) who leads the SEC in lowest opponent’s batting average at .162 and ranks among the top four nationally in fewest hits allowed per nine innings, carried a no-hitter to the sixth in a win over #7 Ole Miss this past Sunday. Holder struck out seven in seven innings, allowing just one run on three hits to help Georgia snap a five-game losing streak. Junior Robert Tyler (3-5, 3.98 ERA), a projected first round draft pick this year, was lifted after four innings and six runs in his last start, a 6-4 loss to the Rebels. Sophomore Bo Tucker (3-4, 3.53 ERA) pitched five scoreless innings of relief against the Rebels while freshman Kevin Smith (3-1, 5.23 ERA) pitched one inning with two strikeouts in the series for his first action in a month due to tendonitis.
 
 
Freshman Blakely Brown (2-1, 11.77 ERA) will see his first action in several weeks as part of a staff night against WCU. It will be Brown’s first career start after 11 relief outings. WCU has not announced a starter yet.
