UGA Commit Spotlight: Andrew Thomas

Andrew Thomas

UGA commit Andrew Thomas is the Bulldogs second highest rated commit on the offensive line and he will be a formidable tackle for them in the future.

Thomas is the high school teammate of Bulldogs wide receiver commit Trey Blount at Pace Academy and he should be an elite offensive tackle for the Bulldogs. Thomas has slowly moved up the ranks as the season has progressed and his performance in the U.S. Army All-America game moved him well into the top 50 players in the country.

As one of the Bulldogs’ better offensive line commits, he is in a sweet spot, in my opinion, because I am pretty positive he will be redshirted next season and that may be just what he needs to maximize his potential. A year of not being put against fierce competition, but practicing against some of the best outside linebackers in the country will definitely be beneficial for him.

Thomas is looking to keep the Pace Academy to UGA pipeline going as he has continued to recruit 2018 offensive lineman Jamaree Salyer, who many, with myself included, believe is a strong UGA lean. If the Bulldogs can continue to land outstanding linemen like Salyer and Thomas, then a season of offensive line struggles will not happen again for a very long time.

Thomas has a ton of potential and is already one of the best tackles in the 2017 class, but as he grows and develops under offensive line coach Sam Pittman, he will continue to refine his craft and grow closer to being an elite offensive lineman.
