There is no better person than Richard LeCounte III to start with on this UGA commit spotlight series.
LeCounte was the Bulldogs first commit of the 2017 class after it was rumored he was a strong Ohio State lean. The idea of LeCounte committing to Ohio State seemed highly likely because of his strong relationship with the staff and his best friend linebacker Raekwon McMillan having a strong career with the Buckeyes.
However, his recruitment took a huge turn when the Bulldogs hired Kirby Smart as their head coach because he went from being on the fence about where he would commit to, to being a Bulldog commit and one of the class’s strongest recruiters.
He put in a lot of effort in helping build this 2017 class and his efforts have definitely played a key in putting this class together. He has been a vocal leader on the recruiting trail for the Bulldogs and it looks as if he will be an even more vocal player on the field.
LeCounte is a 5’10” 175lbs safety from Liberty County High School in Georgia and he is listed as the number 2 safety in the country and the 22nd best overall player in the nation according to the 247 composite rankings.
He earned an invitation to the U.S. Army All-America game and he stood his own against some of the nation’s best talent. LeCounte is a very talented player and could challenge for playing time as soon as he gets on campus. He is an early enrollee for the Bulldogs and is currently taking classes at the University of Georgia in hopes of getting a head start on the team.
Regardless of how his freshman season goes, LeCounte should find the field very quickly and should become a fan favorite for the Bulldog nation very soon.
