UGA commit Walter Grant is one of the Bulldogs lesser known commits, but his size is reminiscent of one of the Bulldogs current defensive stars.
Grant attended high school in Cairo, Georgia and his commitment continued the storyline of Kirby Smart locking down the borders of Georgia. Having held offers from schools like Alabama, Auburn, Florida and more, Grant’s decision to choose the Bulldogs was great news for Smart. Grant has great size, which is a necessity to play the outside linebacker position in not only college football but especially the SEC.
If Robert Beal Jr. is this class’s Lorenzo Carter, then I believe Walter Grant is the Davin Bellamy. Grant’s size is comparable to that of Bellamy’s, which is great news because the Bulldogs will have to replace this defensive star after next season. The Bulldogs already lack depth at the outside linebacker position, so pulling an elite talent like Grant was especially important in this class.
With linebacker Chuks Amaechi graduating after this past season, I believe Grant is the type of player that the staff will look to, to fill his role. I will not guarantee that Grant will receive playing time next season, but it definitely would not surprise me to see him on the field.
