UGA cross country men’s and women’s teams along with three of its members which include freshman Sam Drop along with juniors Bryan Kamau and Austin Sprague have been recognized for their outstanding performance not only on the course but also in the classroom for academic achievements.
The Georgia women posted a cumulative GPA of 3.40 and were fifth at the NCAA South Regional in early November to be named to an All-Academic Team. The Bulldog men were third at the NCAA South Regional and finished with a GPA of 3.14 to be included as one of the squads.
Three Bulldogs were also named USTFCCCA All-Academic Individuals after posting GPAs of 3.25 or better and earning All-Region honors. True freshman Sam Drop (Durham, Conn.) completed her first semester with a 4.0 GPA in Biology and was the Lady Bulldogs’ top finisher at the NCAA South Regional, taking 17th in the 6K race.
Junior transfer Austin Sprague (Dunwoody, Ga.) was Georgia’s fourth finisher at the Regional, coming in 20th place in the 10K competition, and finished with a 3.39 GPA in Communication Studies.
Just as he was the five meets before Regionals, junior Bryan Kamau (Snellville, Ga.) was the first Bulldog across the finish line in Georgia’s final meet (13th). He completed the fall semester with a 3.48 GPA and is studying Financial Planning.
