UGA Equestrian Ranked 2nd in Preseason Poll

Georgia equestrian will enter the 2016-17 season as the second-ranked team nationally, as announced by the National Collegiate Equestrian Association selection committee on Tuesday.
 
 
Georgia comes in at No. 2, just behind conference rival and defending national champion Auburn. All four Southeastern Conference teams rank among the nation’s top 10 with Texas A&M selected fourth and South Carolina checking in at No. 8.
 
 
“It’s great to start the season knowing we have work to do,” Georgia head coach Meghan Boenig said. “The team has been working extremely hard in practices to prepare for a tough season ahead. We are so excited to progress and hope to be at the top of the ranking soon.”
 
 
Georgia has five returning All-Americans on the roster this season including junior Bailey Anderson (Western), junior Addy Cord (Hunt Seat), senior Liza Finsness (Hunt Seat), junior Kyndall Harper, and senior Meg O’Mara (Hunt Seat).
 
 
Georgia will host its annual Red and Black scrimmage on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 10 a.m. before hosting Alabama for a scrimmage on Oct. 2 at 12 p.m. Both meets will be held at the UGA Equestrian Complex and admission is free.
 
 
The Bulldogs officially start the 2016-17 campaign on the road against SEC foe South Carolina on Oct. 7.
 
 
The 2017 SEC Championship will be held March 24-25 in Auburn, Ala. The season will conclude April 12-15 at the NCEA National Championship in Waco, Texas.
