UGA vs UNC?
Gulfdawg Yes, many are not immediately commitable
I think I have finally fixed the recruiting hot board page, but I had to do some recoding. If I did leave off anybody, just let me know. It should be up-to-date as of now.
Gulfdawg Hello Gulldawg. Thanks for reading and dropping in to comment.
There are different strategies and philosophies when it comes to college football recruiting, but the basic gist of it is, that college football programs, like NFL franchises, identify current needs on the roster and do their best to manage the roster so that there is adequate depth at each position group from season to season.
The coaching staff and people involved in scouting and recruiting in the administrative role then identify prospective student-athletes that can help fill a need or role in the program and will then send out a scholarship offer at some point during the recruiting process.
As you stated, the coaching staff knows that it cannot sign everybody, the NCAA limits programs to taking 25 scholarship players per year with some exceptions and a maximum of 85 scholarships on the roster, but it is an idea of percentages. For example, if a program offers 10 to 15 kids, who they think are the best prospects at a position group and they think they can recruit well enough to have a chance at signing, they know that they will either be able to sign only 1/3 of those offers (or less) or that they maybe only successful in recruiting 1/3 of them.
Sometimes offers are made as a recruiting tool to get in good with a school and the coaching staff at a high school so that the University creates a pipeline to a high school program or area.
Of course, when there are more offers than scholarships, that does mean that usually someone will get “left out” or told to look elsewhere. That part of the process is one of the “uglier” aspects of college football recruiting. However, good players will usually land on their feet with the number of FBS and FCS programs out there.
Gulfdawg my guess is they are giving offers based on if they get situations settled
Hi guys. I am a regular reader. Thanks for all the work that goes into maintenance and gathering info. I have a question that might show my ignorance. It seems that we have made a ton of offers. Is it safe to assume that some (or many) of thse are not commitable at this point? How does this work? Thanks.
Really stoked to get Trey Blount! We’re gunna get ours!
Chuba has special skills. Not sure his level of competition is very high, but the kid has great moves, speed and vision!
Good Luck D Rob! And thanks for going out west. Not because I don’t want to go against you, but just didn’t want anyone else in the SEC to have you.
Indeed they did. Had some injuries / sickness that they had to work around as well
Diamond Dawgs may be struggling, but Georgia softball team put a whooping on Ole Miss this weekend and took the series.

Diamonddawgs get swept by Vandy today. BAD!
MidtownTeacher Thank you for understanding, but please understand it’s not my rule. That would be Greg Poole’s guidelines he sat down long ago, even from the Leather Helmet Blog days. I just do my best to make sure the site runs the way he wants it to; although, I happen to agree with him. Sports and politics just not mash well.
Hobnailboot aka RobG I watched Chuba’s highlights and he looks really good. Those defenses look pretty bad to me also.
Joe Dawg Yes. Jacoby and Tony should both be on the hot board unless the ‘ye ‘ole code is bugging out again. I’ll check out it out and give her a kick and shake if they are not. Thanks.
Hey BB2 shouldn’t we have Tony Gray and Jacoby Stevens on the Hot Board? Sure would be two nice additions to the next class!
Just take all of the points from my total, no sense in everyone bothering to resolve it, ###
Bulldawg36 I think that that really about sums it up. Don’t know what the family dynamics are but if he wanted to be far away to get his life really together, and on his own terms, that’s great. What I didn’t much care for was how long this went on. It seems, but we’ll never know, that Cali was out there and it’s what he wanted all along. Quite a few UGA players and potential recruits “somehow” felt pretty strongly that he was definitely coming here. I certainly got this strong impression from the fellow I spoke to last Thursday night. I’m not saying that he personally misled folks, but a silent auditorium and disappointed UGA athletes and potential athletes sure went away mystified.
But sobeit.
BTW, I won the YOLO, ya’ll owe me 2000 points.
Bulldawg36 Agree
Hobnailboot aka RobG RumRunnerDoogie Bulldawg Bob2 DawgByte nothing like a tackler apologizing after hitting u#

in respect for bulldog Bob’s wishes for thus forum, i will refrain from political comments. however, i don’t see politics being as big a factor in college as it is for older guys like us and Berkeley doesn’t breathe as much liberalism as you fear. intellectual yes, but liberal, i haven’t seen it in my interactions with students which have been numerous.
