Folks getting upset over decision of where an 18 year old choses to attend college will have many days of unrest. Business owners get jilted daily.
Give your best and move forward to the next client.

Here’s the answer to our speed at WR! I like this kid with the ball in his hands.

DawgByte Hobnailboot aka RobG Hahaha. Aye. Love that kid’s name. CHUBA!!!!!!!!

rugbydawg79  I have no way to verify this other than calling it a gut hunch, but I think he is really enamored with West Coast living and felt like that, plus a good academic institution, plus a decent football team was more than enough to overcome playing with a potentially great QB (be it Eason or Fromm), playing with other good friends/colleagues who he has met during the recruiting process, and being close to friends/family and going to school with his sister.  I respect that the young man is chasing a dream rather than making a comfortable/easy choice and living to regret it later.  I hope he does great and wish him nothing but the best.  It would have been great watching him play in the Red & Black, but ultimately it’s his decision on what he feels is best for him, and I respect that.

Bulldawg Bob2 rugbydawg79 sorry BB2 you can delete if possible I understand – I just know a lot of kids with a 4.0 that can’t get in UGA

  6. DawgByte

Hobnailboot aka RobG Agree… we need another Chubbanator in the house! Boy’s got some mad skills!

  7. Bulldawg Bob2

DawgByte rugbydawg79  Let’s ease off on comments that are leaning towards the beginnings of bashing a teenager for choosing where to go to school. This will go in the wrong direction fast.

D-Rob made his decision. Let’s not start insinuating he could possibly be a bust or nit pick whether he made the right choice or not. It was his choice. Not mine, not yours, not any other fans’.

If I am coming on strong here, it is because I want to nip in the bud and parents read our magazine and  website.

  8. Hobnailboot aka RobG

So what is the story on that Hubbard kid, his highlight are impressive, looks like a burner

  9. DawgByte

Jay212033 That would be a shot in the arm to this recruiting class. We are in dire need for a monster in the middle.

rugbydawg79 I felt the same way. My brother and I have gone round and round about Cal. He lives in San Diego and thinks Cal is a great academic institution. I once saw like a 60 Minutes story on Cal and how most Freshmen have to sit in very large auditoriums and have TA’s that barely speak English. I realize every school has a bit of that, but my takeaway from the story is that it’s exceptionally bad at Cal.

We have a fine academic institution and it is getting better every year. It’s come a long way and that’s positive. One kid deciding not to come to Georgia is no big deal. Lets see how this kid performs once he gets out there. 5 star bust? I guess we’ll find out.

Greg Poole If I was a gambler I would be all over the UNC game – I have a feeling we will destroy them.
I saw your earlier post with a score prediction from Vegas – that will change.

  12. Hobnailboot aka RobG

    Bulldawg Bob2 rugbydawg79  IMO it’s a slap in his dictator of a brother’s face

  13. Bulldawg Bob2

rugbydawg79  Yes. D-Rob qualifies for Georgia even as a non-student-athlete. I don’t know why you feel like D-Rob choosing to go to Cal is a slap in your face or any other UGA alum’s / graduate’s face in regards to Georgia’s athletics.

People choose to commit to other schools over Georgia all the time for a number of different reasons.

  14. Jay212033

Man I hope Nate McBride commits soon that kid is an absolute MONSTER on the field!

  15. rugbydawg79

My big question – and I realize this is probably not PC -could Demetris Robertson get into UGA if he was not a Football player ?  I just want to know after I feel like my School has been slapped in the face Academics wise – as a graduate I admit I could not get in now – however nationwide folks thinking he picked Cal over UGA because they are so much better – bothers me – I hope he is happy, gets away from his brother and does well.

  16. DawgByte

RumRunnerDoogie DawgByte dawgmum We are the highest ranked SEC thus far. Although Bama, who is right behind us has 2 Five Star recruits.

  17. DawgByte

Greg Poole I like the size of Blount – 6’3″ with speed and very good athleticism.

  18. Hobnailboot aka RobG

DawgByte MidtownTeacher  That is why you’d have to have a gun pointed at me to get me to move to California and even then I’d think long and had about it

  19. Bulldawg36

He just wanted to leave state..bottom line. He loved Stanford but had to settle for his 2bd choice

  20. Bulldawg36

Hope that happens soon. He had great things to say about Eason after G day

    5. UGA

Miami already has 15 verbals. Richt is a recruiting machine.

Greg Poole Last night I had dinner with a Bama fan. We talked extensively about football. He said Kirby was THE recruiter on Saban’s staff and will be tireless in his pursuit of top talent in the state of Georgia. He thought it was a very good hire for UGA and hated to see him go.

  23. DawgByte

MidtownTeacher It’s also one of, if not THE most liberal colleges in America. If that floats your boat then it certainly is a mecca for that type of thinking.

  24. Greg Poole

This staff gets managing fanbase expectations and sentiment. The only thing missing at this point is winning football games. If you think they will leave one single detail of a gameplan to chance, you are missing the point of Smart’s time under Saban.

  25. Bulldawg Bob2

RobDawg  Time to pop open a cold one? …… Just kidding. LOL. Couldn’t resist. 🙂

  26. Bulldawg36

I couldn’t stay away!!! I’m back baby!! Trey Blount baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see a few folks further down asking why Cal?

I used to live in Georgia and a couple years ago I moved out to California.  I live across the bay from Berkeley in Marin County.

I think we all feel affinity to what we know and where we grow up.  I loved running through the woods growing up in Georgia as a kid.

However, now that I live out here, I have discovered how amazing somewhere can be.  It has opened my eyes.

Specifically in regards to Cal-Berkeley. It has one of the top 10 ranked business programs in the country.  UGA is good, but not at the same level.  Second, while Athens is a great college town, it is a great southern college town.  Berkeley has more interesting things about it, a different vibe.  It feels global and at the cutting edge.  Athens is comfortable and sleepy.  Of course Athens can be crazy at night, but I am talking about layout and feel of the towns, the types of restaurants, the people you see on the streets, etc.  DRob seems more open minded, more of a thinker and I think Berkeley is a good fit.   In terms of football, UGA would have been great, especially with Eason, but the Pac10 throws the ball around a lot and DRob would be fine on either team.

Anyway, I hope this helps give a bit on insight into some of the good things about Berkeley.

  28. Greg Poole

The UGA recruiting engine is just getting started. There will be some misses but the only thing that will slow it is if the group in Athens can not coach.
