I read that 70% of cable subscribers don’t watch ESPN. We will pay 3 times what we used to.

Greg Poole  Hey boss, have you seen the vimeo video that Dash posted over on Rivals???  I believe that you might need to get some royalties or something…  lol!  I think that’s you in the background the entire interview.    Is this you?

ed603 Not yet…  Good luck Ed and hopefully you will come out the other end pain free!

Greg Poole I’m not sure a la cart is actually going to solve the cost problem unfortunately. Having bundles is what offsets the costs of the major networks. ESPN being the biggest. That’s a different topic but someone is going to need to innovate the TV world because it’s spiraling out of control right now.

I doubt that many of you are interested in this, but changes in the way cable television is delivered to consumers are going to have a huge effect on revenue for college sports. There is also a likely change in the works for the way conferences are organized. Currently, SEC Network (and all the others) receive revenue based on the number of cable subscribers within the conference footprint. As more subscribers opt for skinny bundles or cut the cable altogether, conference networks will suffer revenue declines.
At some point, à la carte programming will be in effect. When that happens, IMHO, SEC will have by far the greatest revenue from conference networks due to the rapid nature of the fan bases within the conference.

Morning, BI…been out of commission for a few days! Missed my daily BI fix. Disk in my back compressed a nerve, and had me on steroids and pain killers…Would fall in the draft for sure! Now have to go through some kind of injection in my back, then 3 weeks of rehab. Anyone had this proceedure?

Greg Poole He sayin he got another fish on the hook and put on ice in the Dawg cooler!

  8. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole Dawgnation4 Sumlin’s Days in Texas are numbered.  Ridiculousness.

  9. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole HELL YES!   It’s time for this non-sense to stop.  The NCAA’s core mission statement does not apply as long as they continue to allow such exponentially different policy’s among its member institutions…  PERIOD!

DawgDaddy Greg Poole I wonder if he put a crack in that floor when he lost control of it.

dsw61 Reddawg13 AlphaDawg Greg Poole The pattern is we win at home, we don’t do hot elsewhere

Dawgnation4 AlphaDawg Greg Poole I don’t think a coach would be on UGA staff long if they caused 2 decommits and continued to dig a deeper hole. I’m not sure where Sumlin was during this. He should have called his assistant and told him to get the heck off twitter. Or Heck call I.T. and have them lock his phone!!

Greg Poole I like the idea of providing the players with some added incentive to work hard during the off season and fall camp, by playing a nonconference power 5 team the opening game. It will expose any weaknesses and better prepare the team for conference play.

AlphaDawg Greg Poole All i can say, is i am glad that is not the UGA way!

  15. Reddawg13

AlphaDawg Reddawg13 Greg Poole I want coaches who work as hard as they want the kids to work! Not coaches who just tell kids how hard to work!

2011 opening game against Boise State. Lost 35-21
    2012 won first five games.
2013 opening game against Clemson at Clemson. Lost 38-35.
2014 opening game against Clemson in Athens. Won 45-21.
2015 opening game against ULM in Athens. Won 51-14 in a shorten game.

dsw61 AlphaDawg DawgDaddy Greg Poole I do too until they get injured. lol

  18. Reddawg13

AlphaDawg DawgDaddy Greg Poole I am holding my breath too! McBride could make early impact too and he has already strained a muscle.

  19. AlphaDawg

Reddawg13 AlphaDawg Greg Poole I agree wholeheartedly. One of my only complaints about Richt was being prepared. Too many times we looked like we have no idea we play SEC football. Like you’re saying, This will be a big test for Kirby right off the bat. I’m glad to hear him embrace it like he is.

I’ve said this here before but I’ll say it again. When I was watching the UGAvBama game in 2015 the commentator said, “Kirby Smart watched EVERY game Brian Shottenheimer has coached as an OC to prepare for this game.” I knew right then and there. I had no confidence our staff prepared like that.

  20. Reddawg13

DawgDaddy Greg Poole and that was 245 lbs! I wish they would stop this stunt!

  21. Reddawg13

AlphaDawg Greg Poole I am not saying we will win or dominate the Tar Heels opening weekend, but I firmly believe we will be a lot more prepared for that opening game than we have been in the past. I never understood having the spring and all summer to prepare and showing up flat and unprepared for the big stage!

  22. AlphaDawg

    Greg Poole CC:
As long as he can turn around the fear that most UGA fans have for opening on a big stage. We’ve been embarrassed many times on opening stages which are nationally viewed. Nothing helped the argument that “UGA is overrated” than us getting our butts handed to us in a game where media hyped UGA into this monster SEC contender.

  23. AlphaDawg

Greg Poole AlphaDawg I just got caught up on it. My comment was serious. lol I really didn’t know what happened
