BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –Georgia first baseman Trevor Kieboom has been named to the 2016 Southeastern Conference Community Service Team, the league announced Wednesday.
Kieboom’s efforts including serving as a volunteer for “Home Runs For Hometown Rivals,” a fundraiser to benefit Athens-Clarke County Special Olympics that features a game at Foley Field between Special Olympic players. He has been a volunteer for Salvation Army activities, made elementary school visits including for a Halloween Party and Reading Days. During his career at UGA, Clemson and Chattahoochee Valley Community College, the redshirt junior from Marietta, Ga., has participated in Feed the Hungry projects during the holiday season at local churches, served on a Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, various Special Olympic Community events and been a volunteer coach for Little League Baseball. Also of note, Kieboom has earned a degree in management from UGA.

Lucas Rogers  There are a number of younger guys that have the talent to play. I fully expect the staff to ready them but I have had those expectations before…
It is a different deal in Athens though. Some many changes – no one is sitting back fat and happy.

Like many have said before, its turning into TMZSPN. There’s no wonder they’ve had this slew of layoffs recently. They’re burning money. One thing I noticed was that they basically got rid of the side bar that would show upcoming topics. I bet its because if they truthfully told you what useless topics they were about to waste your time with, everyone would change the channel.

Lucas Rogers Mine too!  I wanted him more than D. Brown and I think he is going to be a huge player for us in the future!

  5. RumRunnerDoogie

BenKellam RumRunnerDoogie Bulldawg36 i stopped watching because of that and they starting talking politics which to me is stupid for a “sports” network

  6. Lucas Rogers

Eason is my biggest impact but other than him I think Michail Carter has a good season.

  7. BenKellam

RumRunnerDoogie Bulldawg36 Its really gone down the tubes. They spend more time analyzing people twitter and fashion choices than they do talking about anything related to the actual sports. It’s pretty awful. The new host, Sarina Morales is unwatchable and seems totally out of her element.

Lucas Rogers Greg Poole I agree, 9 wins is the most likely over under.  we win 9 and I will be happy, any more than that thrilled, and less and I just hope it is with starting Eason the entire season so at least we can feel like we are building to the future…

Greg Poole good luck Kenny.  lock down defender who can shoot the three, he should have a shot at it.  Never felt like he made it back 100% from his junior year injuries, if he is back to healthy I think he could be a solid 6th man in the right system

Greg Poole Like I said earlier, about the Power 5 commissioner thing…  It’s Beyond time for action with respect to this type of obvious cover-up and collusion.  If the NCAA and the Power 5 conferences don’t take the initiative soon, there will be a class action filed that makes the O’bannon and Utk cases look like fender benders verdicts.  IMO it would be wise for the member institutions and boards of regents to want this and thereby, deflect some of the eventual liability!

RobDawg I’ll take that one too!  As long as the DAWGS score first, I really don’t care who get’s the TD!

  12. RobDawg

The first score will be by a TE – not specifying the player but it will be to a TE

Here is one clear difference I have noticed about Lawrence as opposed to the others mentioned. He is known, the kids in Georgia want to play with him. He has camped with them since the 6th grade. He has played in middle school games with most of the top prospects starting the 7th grade. Lawrence was the QB on 8th grade Team Georgia that won the national championship in Texas two years ago. I cannot go many places where prospects don’t ask me about him or where do I think he is going. I have prospects from the 2016 class that were asking me about him.
All the stats are there, he has the tools, he has the intelligence to play QB at a high level, but the biggest weapon that Lawrence is going to bring with him is his ability to recruit. Whichever school he selects is going to immediately going to take step forward with a lot of prospects in the 2017, 2018 and 2019 classes.

BahitsAgain Bulldawg36 If he can out run a DB for 80 yards, then we really do have superman on campus!!###

  15. MMCSDAWG

PTCDawg Lucas Rogers Who’s you “biggest” impact freshman in this class??  lol

  16. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole Ruled himself out with his last statement about Common sense person making decisions! lol  He did throw a little barb at Ole Miss too!  Bet they are glad Alabama shifted a little focus over their way!

  17. MMCSDAWG

Bulldawg36 I hoping and praying that first TD is by #27 braking a 25-30 yarder early in the first quarter!

  18. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole PTCDawg Definitely won’t be on scholarship at UGA next year.  like you said earlier, there will be some roster management taking place in the near future!

  19. Bulldawg36

I can’t wait to see the first TD of the 2016 season when we ram the ball right down North Carolinas throats!!! Touchdown Sony michel!!!!!!!!!!

Greg Poole Lucas Rogers UT was Richt’s signature win in his first season.  That was a very highly rated UT team and at their place.  I would love to see Smart get this game.  Would set the tone a lot like that Hobnail game did years ago.

  21. MMCSDAWG

Lucas Rogers What about T. Simmons?  He is built, has speed and athleticism?  I think he stands a good chance of cracking the rotation early in the season as well.  He appears to have the frame and upper body development to be an effective blocker on the outside as well.  Look forward to seeing how he develops this year!  Agree though, Ridley is ahead of all the other incoming WR and has surpassed davis imo as well.  The wild card will be Wimms, if he is ready he could be an early impact player for sure!

Greg Poole Gawd, I love that guy. He makes his point using fewer words than anyone I know.

  23. Bansai buckeroo

@Ba…. I think his biggest contribution early will probably be on special teams…

Right now, head coaches aren’t allowed to visit players. Assistants are, however, which is why various Georgia coaches are on the road during what’s called the evaluation period of NCAA recruiting. As a longtime assistant, Smart has long been accustomed to hitting the recruiting trail during this time of the year.
Smart’s been doing his part to figure out what to do with the additional hours he has available.
“You gotta find something to do,” Smart said. “You watch opponents. You watch and evaluate recruits (on film). You try to get on the phone with the prospects. That’s all new to me, not being on the road. That’s been the hardest part. It has been a little slower.”
