Red Dawn The real reason the SEC wanted to stop it is they don’t want other SEC schools in their territories. You can believe that TAMU is not thrilled about UGA in Houston.

BroDawg Greg Poole I totally agree Brodawg, I believe there is one play that Kirby will watch and it will reinforce his belief that we need a change.  The play happened with Lambert at the helm, the ball was just outside the red zone.  Lambert is in the pocket and it starts to get a little crowded. Lambert chooses to throw the ball to an empty spot on the left side of the field.   He basically thew away that play in the redzone and didn’t look to pull the ball down and get a yard, two or possibly 8-10 that could have been had by a QB that could move his feet.  That play for me was unacceptable and I believe kirby wants someone back there that will pull the ball down and go get a few yards when the opportunity exists, instead of someone that just wastes a down and sets the team up behind the chains in a potential scoring drive.  I believe Ramsey can do that, I also believe Eason can as well.  Ramsey is the wild card and if Eason isn’t the starter game 1 I believe Ramsey may well be.

Red Dawn RumRunnerDoogie  Correct and that is the way that UGA will treat them. Kirby does the same thing with his practices. Recruits are at every practice. Their day is scripted and the events are designed to showcase the program – these camps will be the same – more kids but the ones they want will get VIP treatment.

  4. Red Dawn

Greg Poole RumRunnerDoogie by the way Meechigan pulled the offers for 3-4 kids who earned them at their satellite camps in favor of highly rated prospects closer to NSD.  These camps will be nothing more than national branding opportunities if the SEC gets involved

  5. MidtownTeacher

BahitsDawg Greg Poole  Sadly, I think Ramsey will become a punter in the NFL and not a QB, but he could become a really good punter who could not only be very good at punting but be the best punter at executing a fake punt.  He can run and throw meaning he could get the snap, run forward and either see the run available or make a throw.  It’s not the future he wanted, but it is a very good future earning more $$ than most of us.

  6. Red Dawn

Greg Poole RumRunnerDoogie It sounds like the only power 5 schools actually hurt by the ban are Oregon State,  Nebraska,  Minnesota and some of the other schools that don’t have homegrown talent pools. I don’t think SEC schools care about them showing up at camps,  but imagine how Oregon State will feel when UGA is in LA across the street from their camp.  Blame Harbaugh

  7. MidtownTeacher

Greg Poole MidtownTeacher If I were UNC, I would game plan my defense on Eason.  But, they don’t have to start doing that planning yet and they will have a better sense as we get closer.

  8. Greg Poole

RumRunnerDoogie The reasoning will be that lower level prospects will not get the exposure they need because non-Power 5 coaches used to attend camps like Georgia’s Dawg Night but are now prohibited.  The real reason is that nationally the SEC is seen as a bully on that (and most) issues.

In 3 years the Assn. will change these rules again – after SEC teams start showing up all over the country with high-profile camps. Just wait until Kirby conducts camps in SoCal, Pheonix, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Tiderwater VA (etc.) – then throw Bama, LSU and others on top of that.

The circus will come to town every week.

Greg Poole As a matter of fact, I re-watched the G-Day game again yesterday when I got home from work.  I focused this time on the QB’s.  There is one thing we have to keep in mind, Eason was going against the 2nd and third team defenses.  He never faced the #1’s, so I tried to factor that into my assessment.   However, even with that in mind, I kept looking for clear signs of why Lambert should start over Eason and honestly I didn’t find any in the G-day game.  Eason made one bad throw that could have resulted in a turnover, whereas Lambert could have been picked off 2 more times not counting the actual interception he thru in the red-zone resulting in a pick 6…  Watching Eason assess the defense and make a quick decision on one of the Blitzes to unload the ball was my final deciding factor.  Yes, Eason got sacked a couple of times, however those sacks were more on the OL than him.  The OL didn’t even touch a couple of players on those plays.  I predicted Eason would start before G-Day, and now that I’ve seen G-day a few times, I’m more confident in my prediction than ever.  I would have loved to have seen him get at least 1 series with the #1’s, but based on what I saw, I’m sticking with my prediction!  Keep in mind, if we are worrying about the pressure on this kid, I would find it hard to believe that there would be anymore pressure on him come Sept than there was on Sat in Athens…  93K+ showed up and he came out and played his tail off and IMO had the best performance of any of the 3 competing for the job.

  10. BahitsDawg

Greg Poole MidtownTeacher After seeing how he handled 93k+, I don’t think Mr. ICE has a problem with heat.

He did go against the 2nd team defenses, so he probably has more to learn before given the helm.  I like the idea of bringing him along a little slowly so he isn’t rattled by overload… if that is possible.

Plus, I want to see Ramsey play more.

  11. RumRunnerDoogie

Greg Poole i really see no reason, only argument ive seen is more exposure for kids…yes so they go to the schools with a ton of guys with offers

  12. Greg Poole

You can bet that NCAA is going to reinstate satellite camps in some form either this year or next. Remember, the SEC satellite camp ban expires in May. When the camps are allowed again, SEC teams will be ready to roll.

I think it’s about 50/50 for UNC. What may be most important now is I think Eason showed he merits first team reps in the fall. Spring was for learning/acclimation. Fall is when the real competition begins…

  15. Greg Poole

    RumRunnerDoogie, Mornings are easy when there are no residual substances distorting things ;-}

  16. BroDawg

Greg Poole I would say there is an 90% chance. I believe Smart wants Ramsey to step up and make an argument if only to take the pressure off of Eason… Ramsey certainly has the skills but may be lacking in having that natural huddle presence…. I really don’t think Lambert is a viable option other than as a mentor. Nothing personal .. but I think Smart knows a change is needed. Which is why my percentage is so high on Eason.

  17. Greg Poole

MidtownTeacher I think CKS is actively trying to both keep the heat off Eason and not give any info to UNC.

  18. MidtownTeacher

DawgLink remind me of his name again and also, how does he compare to the 2017 RBs we are recruiting in terms of ability?

  19. MidtownTeacher

Greg Poole I try to temper my thoughts with the fact that there have been very good g-day performances in the past that didn’t lead to starts/playing time.  However, I also disagree with Smart’s comment of starting the QB who gives us the best chance of beating UNC.  I would like us to start a QB who gives us at least an almost as good a chance to win the game and whose experience in that game will cause us to win other games during the season.  Clearly, this shows I hope Eason starts.  The bar for me is not that he has to be the most likely to win the game, but that he has to be close to other experienced QBs in being able to win that game.  I do think Eason starts, and it is more likely with Smart than Richt.

  20. RumRunnerDoogie

Greg Poole i think this summer will be telling, she how he continues to adjust to being in a different world (literally) and learning the plays

  21. Greg Poole

After watching G-Day, how many of you now think Eason will start the season at quarterback?

  22. ed603

AlphaDawg  What’s up, Alpha! It’s hell when you have to interrupt important stuff to go to work!

  23. ed603

MMCSDAWG ed603  Doing well, since I woke up breathing this morning! Everyday is a good Dawg day!

  24. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole Did Nick Robinson remind anyone else of A. Murray?  Watching him lead that TD and make a couple of those throws I had flashbacks to AM…    The kid Robinson had a pretty nice drive!
