No way!  I am convinced that with the right coaching (Chaney)  Ramsey can be a very good college QB and has the measurables to get a look from the NFL.

Avon Barksdale  Of course, it minimizes the risk but I doubt it changes the calculation significantly. It would shift the balance toward Ramsey/Eason IMHO

Greg Poole RumRunnerDoogie Yes, this is not a fight other conferences want, but they’re going to get it if necessary. The coaches think it’s cute right now because the SEC is standing there with their hands tied bc of our own rule. I had conversations this week with people from Connecticut, Utah, and Virgina. They all agree that the south is like no other when it comes to competition in football. This is only going to piss off everyone because people are whining that a kid won’t get exposure from other schools, when in reality, these coaches are going to camps where 5star and 4star kids already have offers to 20 schools.

Avon Barksdale  Chubb doesn’t impact the quarterback decision, but he does help whomever starts or is playing QB.

  5. Avon Barksdale

To follow-up on the conversation about starting QB below….do you guys think whether or not we have Chubb back for UNC will impact the QB decision? Does it minimize the risk of starting a true freshman? Or maybe does it mean the QB doesn’t have to do as much so go with the safer pick?

  6. PTCDawg

I would be fine with whatever the coaches decide, I just think its VERY unlikely at this point. I have said before I think this team can be successful with each of the three.

  7. Greg Poole

PTCDawg  I don’t think that is what he was saying – just that CKS said he that as fall camp progresses two qbs will get the snaps with the ones. The third guy will not be imprisoned.

  8. Bulldawg Bob2

PTCDawg  True. It is one things for us fans to do so, but what if the Georgia coaches decide that Lambert is 3rd on the depth chart behind Eason and Ramsey, even with his game experience come fall? Not saying it will happen, but it is one possibility.

Greg Poole Another thing I will add to this who starts discussion is that Kirby has stated that you can really only rep 2 quarterbacks as you prepare for a game.  So we are going to be down to 2 quarterbacks at some point.  If it is Lambert and Eason then Ramsey is basically being told you will never be the guy.  If it is Lambert and Ramsey then Eason is being told that he is not close to being ready.  I think it will be Ramsey and Eason fighting for the job with Lambert 3rd.  Their performances at G day validate that decision.

  10. Greg Poole

CLTDawg You are not going to hear anything about those live reps – or very little. Teams just don’t expose QBs in practice these days.

DawgDaddy Greg Poole I;m sticking with my prediction, but I too would not be surprised at all if Ramsey is the Starter and Eason comes in every 3rd series in the first half against UNC and depending on who has the hot hand and the status of the game, I could see him finishing the game against UNC and never turning back from that point.

  12. DawgDaddy

Greg Poole I do think it is a possibility, I did not think so before.  I rate it 40-60 that he does but I rate it 100% that he will play more than a couple of series.

  13. CLTDawg

Greg Poole Until I see/hear about Eason taking successful live reps (where he can actually be touched) against a starting quality defense, I still think it’s smarter to go with one of the guys who has been in the fire before (preferably Ramsey) and bring Eason along during the season.

The last thing these guys want is Kirby in their back yard. It seems cheery pickin is what he does best

ZippyMorocco MidtownTeacher Greg Poole DawgLink Great assessment Zip!  He definitely has potential, but like most HS kids they haven’t developed the ability to stay behind their pads.  Look at S. Wilson this weekend…  He was tackled several times by arms on the lower part of the body, that happens when your weight is out over your center of gravity… Which is what running behind his pads is all about!  I like his vision, speed and size  a lot though!

    MidtownTeacher Greg Poole DawgLink
IMO, he looks faster than Holyfield, but doesn’t run behind his pads as well.

  17. Greg Poole

MidtownTeacher The kid is a good runner with power. Georgia needs RB depth immediately. If he does nothing more than provide practice depth, he will earn the ‘ship…..and I think he will do more. IMHO he comes in with a better chance of competing for PT than Crowder had.

  18. Red Dawn

Greg Poole Red Dawn yep,  and Atlanta will be revolving door of SEC camps during the summer.  This whole kids losing opportunities argument really is a out  in schools losing the opportunity to find undervalued recruits that formerly would have gone to UAB or Georgia State.  Even that loses merit after Harbaugh pulled all his camp offers in favor of Rivals 250 prospects.

  19. Bulltoad

Greg Poole I have felt all along that there is little chance that Lambert starts or plays this season unless he was clearly better than Ramsey and Eason.  I think Eason will start now after watching G Day.

Greg Poole DawgLink Thanks for the link.  I am not good at evaluating football talent from videos.  What do those who have better insight after seeing tape think of Herrien?  Does he compare to Holyfield?  Akers?  Swift?  Crowder?
