The month of June had its up and downs for the Georgia Bulldawgs when it came to the college football recruiting trail. Let’s take a look back in UGA Football Recruiting – June 2015 Rewind .
[su_spacer size=”20″]
Top 2016 safety Nigel Warrior visited UGA on the last day, June 28th, of the most recent “quiet period” in the current recruiting calendar and had some good things to say about Athens and the Dawgs. Another 2016 prospect also got a visit in before the “dead period” begins, 2016 TE Garrett Walston. It was a good enough visit that Walston committed to Georgia just a few days later on June 30th becoming the Dawgs’ 12th commitment in the 2016 class for the year.
[su_spacer size=”40″] The Dawgs offered several prospects during the month including two class of 2016 kickers, Quinn Nordin and Eddie Pineiro, and a punter, Blake Gillikin as well as several offensive tackles after EJ Price’s decommitment on June 18th. Price was not the first Georgia verbal commitment to recant his decision during the month. Approximately a week prior to Price’s decommitment, 2016 RB BJ Emmons decided to open up his recruitment on June 11th.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Even though the Dawgs lost a couple of commitments, they also picked up a couple. As I mentioned earlier, Georgia got one of the TEs they were after in the class of 2016 in Garrett Walston. The Dawgs also got a commitment from class of 2017 QB Bailey Hockman on July 12th.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Several recruiting prospects also narrowed down their top schools last month, and Georgia found itself making the cut. The Dawgs were in 2016 Antwuan Jackson’s top 10 as well as 2016 DE Mykelle McDaniel’s and 2016 DB Nigel Knott’s top 10. 2016 DE Xavier Kelly had UGA in his top 8 as did 2016 TE Thaddeus Mekhi Moss. 2016 RB Dewah Whaley listed Georgia in his top 5 school.
