Dean chose the Bulldogs over SEC programs Arkansas, Auburn, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas A&M.
The 6-foot-6 and 260 lbs plus defensive lineman had just released his top schools the day before his commitment announcement, a list that also included ACC program Florida State, Georgia Tech, and UNC as well as the Sun Belt’s Georgia State and the Big Ten’s Penn State.

With the commitment from Marlin Dean, UGA is back up to three verbals joining quarterback Brock Vandagriff (Prince Avenue Christian School, Athens, GA) and athlete David Daniel (Woodstock High School, Woodstock, GA) for the Bulldogs’ 2021 recruiting class.
A junior out of Elbert County High School in Elberton, GA, Dean plays on both the offensive and defensive lines of scrimmage for the Blue Devils at tackle and nose guard. UGA offered Dean back on January 18th.
