George Pickens arrived in Athens earlier this summer, and he seems to already be making a name for himself towards the end of fall camp. Georgia’s coaching seemed to be impressed but is what is more interesting is the praise he is getting from the Bulldogs’ defensive backs.

“George is a great guy, he plays real fast, he has big, strong hands,” UGA junior safety Richard LeCounte said. “He reminds you a lot of A.J. Green with his skillset to adjust to the ball in the air”

“He’s a great guy, he has a lot to learn, but you see flashes.”

Pickens, a product out of Hoover, Al, is listed at 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds.

Pickens committed to UGA this past February and was a great addition along with Freshman wideout Dominick Blaylock.

“George is a one of a kind player, I’m not lying,” Georgia cornerback Eric Stokes said. “He’s one heckuva wide receiver that we’ve got, George is a real talent, and he’s on top of his releases and all of that, So I’m falling in love with George, day by day, just his knowledge, I know he knows what he wants to do, and he’s going for it.”

With the dismissal of Jeremiah Holloman, Pickens seems to be getting most of the praise from his teammates and could have a breakout year in 2019.

Before practice had even started, Pickens impressed his teammates and coaching staff with his ability to slam dunk a basketball during the Bulldogs’ visit to Camp Sunshine.

In 2008, A.J. Green was listed at 6-foot-4 and 184 pounds when he committed to Georgia, and he was the 2008 SEC Freshman of the Year. He went on to be drafted 4th overall by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2011.
Green was a two-time All-American at Georgia during his three seasons in Athens, and only time will tell if Pickens will live up to his teammates’ hype.
