The UGA men’s tennis team’s run all the way to the NCAA semifinals had them jump up fives spots in the final Oracle/ITA Team Rankings released on Wednesday to top out at No. 7.

 
Georgia’s season came to an end Monday following a 4-3 loss in the semifinals to North Carolina. In the previous two rounds, Georgia (22-8) had come from behind against No. 4 Southern California and 5th-seeded UCLA after losing the doubles point but were unable to overcome the deficit against UNC. It was an impressive season for the Bulldogs, who captured a share of the SEC regular-season title and went on to win the SEC Tournament. Despite starting the season 3-5, the Bulldogs had won 19 of their last 21 matches entering Monday’s loss.
 
 
On Wednesday, Georgia sophomore Emil Reinberg and freshman Nathan Ponwith became the first pair of Bulldog teammates since 2012 to advance to the Round of 32 of the NCAA Singles Championship in the same year. Reinberg and Ponwith continue to play in the singles tournament Thursday while top-seeded Robert Loeb and Jan Zielinski begin the doubles tournament.
